I've heard alot about the new diesel fuel not consisting of proper lubricates for items such as your VP and injectors. With the new fuel out there now, what exactly should us consumers be doing to prevent any future problems. I have read people using Powerservice Diesel Kleen, MMO, Stanadyne, and Amalgamated. Is one more of a make up for what the fuel lacks or what. I'm quite confused on this situation. I've even heard actually putting a quart of oil w30 into each fillup. Any information to shine some light on my lack of knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Having this CTD 98. 5 24 v, brother has a 2003 Duramax and a 2007 duramax with the 2006 engine, i want to make sure everything will be properly lubed. Thanks in advance.

All fuel must meet certain lubrication standards before it leaves the refinery. However there are those out here that can't live without adding somthing to their tank, even if it's harmful (i. e. automatic transmission fluid, acetone... . ) I look at it this way if fuel treatment was absolutely necessary wouldn't the engine mfg's (who are responsable for warranty costs) suggest this or make it manditory. And I'm not talking about Dodge I'm talking about companies like Cat, Cummins, Detroit... . I have a Cat with a 500,000 mile warranty and several with 300,000 warranty's. If the fuel was as damaging as some like to think it is woudn't these companies make additives manditory to cover themselves? This is just my opinion if throwing extra money at their trucks makes them feel better, more power to them.

You can trust the oil companies to do one thing only. Maximize their profits!!

They have now raised the cost of all motor fuels to more than three dollars a gallon. I for one do not trust any of them to "do the right thing".

I can only say that when I bought my 2006 CTD, it ran great and was about as quiet as any Duramax. Soon after they shoved ULSD down our throats my truck began to ping and knock like a 11to1 ratio gas engine running on 86 octane.

I tried many different fuel additives to quiet the infernal "spark knock", but nothing worked. Only after I tried a mixture of 8oz. of Power Service White and 8oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil, did the noise start to quiet down. I am on my second tank with this blend of additives and now I can barely hear the noise.

You can trust the oil companies if you choose, but it sure seems odd that a fuel system related noise can be quieted by adding what is basically a lubricant to the fuel.

I intend to continue using these additives until I find an honest and fair oil company. HA HA.

I have followed several threads dealing with pinging, knocking, and other strange noises coming from relatively new CTD trucks. So far evey one of them ended up with some sort of injector problem.

I think it is easier to add about $3. 00 worth of additives to each tank of fuel than have to fight with some dealer or zone factory rep to replace damaged injectors or other engine components that they will tell you are fine.

I put in some 2% biodiesel yesterday and my 01 seems to idle a lot smoother, they say the bio adds alot of lubricity

Ask Your Local Shops That Rebuild Pumps And Injectors And See If They Think The New Fuel Has Any Adverse Effects On Older Trucks. I Know The Ones In My Area Are Busy Resealing Alot Of Fuel Pumps Lately.

we are friends with a man that has a fuel injection pump shop

he is moving to a bigger shop

in his truck he runs a blend of marvel mystery oil and power service

he told us he loves the new fuel it's like money in the bank

what a world we live in I get ****** off and then I get sad

shame on the mess

they are binding us over and giving it to us hard

and we just let this go on

when will it stop

When you say Marvel Mystery Oil, are you talking about their fuel treatment that can be mixed with gas or diesel? I think they even state on the bottle that you can run it in your engine oil too.

ULSD & additives

I work for the public school system here in San Diego. Prior to the introduction of ULSD,we were running"green diesel",which was mandated by the government. We've been running "green" for years now. I questioned the techs if there has been an abnormal number of problems in the injection systems of our varied diesel engines and the answer was negative. That being said,I still run Stanedyne in mine. :)

i have been running MMO in all my trucks mixed in with the fuel for years and all I see is a bit more smoke when you get on it!

i run mmo and powerservice and i swear by it all our motors run smooth. i personaly run it in my motor oil too and i have to say it keeps it clean. i was in my 95 for the kdp and looked at the internals everything could have been eaten off of and there was no sludge in the pan. i will continue to alwasy use it. i just fill my oil filter w/ it and 8oz in the tank every fillup

Ive been adding Stanodyne for about 7 or 8 months now. Recently Ive noticed that the engine is louder, yes maybe like a gasser that doesnt have enough octane. If I were to add MMO, how much should I add to a full tank ? ( I thought that Stanodyne was supposed to quite the engine down a bit just by itself)

I ran Stanedyne,P. S. ,and straight fuel in my '99. It was always loud, with or without.

Anyone here run FPPF's Total Power? I've been running that, and can't say I've noticed anykind of difference with it. I just filled up today and added some MMO along with it. I had been running PowerService, but some one recommended the total power to me, so I've been giving that a shot.

I just went and bought some powerservice diesel kleen +cetane boost and some MMO last night, waiting to fill up and see what kind of difference it might make as well.

i like the diesel kleen w/cboost it helps miles and noise though it smells more. the(larger) bottle is hard to use without spilling.

Yeah i got the big bottle of it(96ounces), figured i would try and get some 8oz bottles and premeasure them and just keep those in my truck, i noticed there isnt much of how much to add of the diesel kleen, but i suppose from the other people claiming 8 oz per fill up is similar to MMO, 4oz of it treats 10 gal soo i guess 8 oz per fill up of around 20+ gal would be sufficient for the diesel kleen as well?
