Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New guy on block

New to Diesel engines. Bought a 98 dodge Cummins 12V , Auto 4X4, 117K, SLT, quadcab. Runs great but does'nt seem to have the power of my old 454 gas rigs But than I have'nt really pulled anything yet to compare. After the fact. Contacted old owner, said he overheated and destroyed engine. Dealer said engine was trashed . Number six cyl. blew and did its thing. Est. cost to repair was $10K. He sold it to a Diesel shop in California as is. What worries me is I can't see any signs of engine being removed or replaced. Pan bolts don't look like they have been removed. Engine compartments looks like recent cleaning by car dealer. Is their any way I can use the engine ID number to see if it's a engine swap or even the orginal engine. If it's the orginal engine. Than I'll be worried. Any help or advice will be appreciated.











































replacement engine or the orginal one? Been working on engines all my life but never diesels so I'm going to need a lot of help from you guys and gals.
