Thanks for the quick reply. Another question: What do you offer in terms of V/B’s, such as complete set-ups and/or “shift-kits”?

DBR,

You are more than welcome... I will do my best in answering. At this time, we are only offering a V/B upgrade. Reasons being... . The V/B has to be set up, calibrated, then dialed in on the valve body machine. Valve body modification features are lock-up in any gear, increased lubrication, exhaust brake ready, lubrication in park, enhanced shift quality and many other enhancements.

Hope I was able to answer your questions... Have a good night.

Thank you for your interest and questions...

I better get my soap box out to do my speech

I just want to start off by saying that I have learned alot on this thread, and that I respect everyones position on their products. If I had a product out there on the market, I would be extremely vocal about it as well. Since I don't I will just have to settle for the next big thing and be vocal about someones elses product.

First off when did ATS get a TC. When I sent away for your information about your product in the summer 2001 I never recieved any info about your TC. But I do still look at your propane system about once a week. :D

Gale Banks sent a LOT of time talking to me about diesels trucks. Countless hours he listened to my questions and answered all off them. He is the reason that I drive a 99 dodge Ram today. Even though I was fequently warned about their trannies(should have gotten the 6 spd). For all his time, I refer people to him all the time. zI am, even gonna run a few "key" components off of one of his kits. I am probably there best (non)employee they have. Who knows. Banks refered me to SC for a TC

Ron at SC did his best to explain how it all works, but I must confess that I have a better chance of hitting an apple at 200m with a 22 pistol blind folded, than understanding how these stupid auto trans work. (should have gotten a 6 spd) But I was saving for my transmission upgrade and now we have DTT

Although I haven't gotten to talk to Bill yet. His following speaks for itself. I really dont like wasting peoples time when I know that I cant afford what he is gonna recommend. But when I get close to that time rest asure that I will call everyone again.

I dont feel that my goals are set extremely high. I know that a banks power pack is supposed to get my truck up to 800lb-ft or so. So I set my goal at 900-1000lb-ft

I am really leary about my trans, cause I lost my first at 5k and my second at 7K. I lost both before I had my truck lifted and regeared. With my pinion angle and axel wrap caused by my lift, I want to get my trans stronger. But if I am gonna spend 2-3K for all these upgrades and labor, I want it to last as until I hit 200K ( I am at 90K now) or longer. I will be the first to admit that I run my truck pretty hard at times(especially on the dunes of glamis)

Ohh Yeah one more thing. Please no banks bashing. I know how alot of you all feel about them, but if it weren't for him I would own a chevy 454 right now

This is my oppinion

just thought I would share as well

Hopefully some one out there can my me beleive and TRUST my transmission.

ps. If I loss another transmission, How hard is it to replace it with a 6 spd?

Gale Bank's

Cumminspower11... I too am more than happy with my Gale Bank's power pack system! It met all my expectations his shop and crew were the best I'v dealt with. But "The Tran's Shop" he refered me to was a screw job!!

Do you spend all of your time going to Transmission shops to see if they are replacing SunCoast Converters???

Actually no, although, I have developed friendships with Bill Kondolay of DTT as well as the remainder of his staff, and with almost everyone at The PowerShop (including my buddy, boy wonder, Evan A. Beck :D ). I spend a fair amount of time at The PowerShop... it's kind of like my home away from home. :D So, when you stop by for parts and/or information/conversation and almost trip over a TC that has been removed from a customer's vehicle you kind of take an intrest. In the case of DTT, I stop by whenever I'm in Canada. Sadly, replacing defective TCs (SunCoast, BD, and Dunrite among those that most will recognize) is a significant part of DTT's business.

BTW, I know SlyBones (Fred), and I can assure you if he wasn't at the top of his class he was very, very close!

If I can, I would just like to ask one question:

With a stock 98. 5, and an '87 Nomad 26' tongue-pull travel trailer, what TC and VB do I need to keep this transmission working correctly and reliably for the next 10 years or so (with normal maintenance and barring any abuse- since I have my "dream" truck, I don't abuse it, I appreciate it)?

Again, I want something that will be reliable. I'm not planning on modifying my truck to make it a high-power engine, maybe a little more (50 hp or so), because I don't want to have to be replacing things that keep breaking. :)

Thanks for any and all constructive inputs .

Ranee, are there any other internal modifications required (2001. 5)? How about earlier years?

DBR...

Good question... For higher horse powered trucks other modifications would be recommended. Each V/B is set up for the particular customers applications.

Chris... (Cumminpwr11)

You have confused us with the ATS in Utah. Though we are a registered dealer of the ATS performance products. Steve does stop by regularly and is a wonderful person. Infact Steve is currently running our Triple Disc T/C in his 98 Dodge, as well as his 2001 Ford Power Stroke. He seems to be very pleased with both. If you ever have the chance to stop by and meet him... I highly reccommend it...

By the way... I like the 6 spd to... Clint thinks I am nuts, but I love 'em... . I think it is a control thing with me... . hahaha

Have a good one...

Appreciate the helping hand Jim... . :) :)

Do you spend all of your time going to Transmission shops to see if they are replacing SunCoast Converters??? If you like I can get you the names and addresses of some shops around here you can check.

On a more serious note:

Dramer,

Keep up the good work and excellent attitude your company will do well.

Dennis

Dennis...

Just a quick 'thank you'. Your post to Don (Dramer) was awesome. He appreciates it and so do Clint and myself. :) :) :)
