Nope, never any smoke of any color. It is probably not leaking down, I have stopped it when up to temp and running, starting is hard immediately after shutdown even, worse when sitting longer. As per the photo, the fuel line is very short and easily inspected, no pressure line leaks. I feel this is because of a hot engine combustion chamber that it even starts at all when warm.
When given a shot of starting fluid, it fires instantly, never misses or stumbles, sometimes will do a little of the diesel "searching" by the governor.
As I had said, when running, it really seems to me to be a little less than as smooth as it should be and it seems to stink more than I think it should. Really burns your eyes and throat. I have bled it so often at the injectors the nuts are almost round, even when running. Each cyl misses when cracked, picks up instantly when tightened.
