Heck, my stock 03 2500 can carry the front wheels half way down the strip in 12. 9 seconds and still get 42 mpg while running the air and watching a dvd! oh yeah and also towing the 30 ft 5th wheel.

Yeah, I know the type. Their only real hop up is a chrome go-faster on the end of the tailpipe, oh and some of that color coordinated plastic wiring loom, and don't forget one of them tornado things that spins the air up for ya. Good for at least 50 HP.

I would really like to see some of you guys run at the strip. Might have to find a way to drop by.

Juan,

I PM'd you with a question about your gauge installation. So you run Di-pricols, and pwerwagn runs isspros. Any comments from you all on the best selection? I'm going to install EGT, boost, and transmission temp gauges in a pod on top of the dash.

Thanks

WRS

I liked the looks of the DiPricols when I installed them - heard lots from people about all the gages.

If I were going to do it again, I'd do ISSPRO or Autometer, though. My only complaint has been the pyro doesn't move nearly as fast as some others I have seen - from what I have read lately, that's a common problem with the DiPricols. It hasn't been enough of a bother to change them, though. Generally I am happy emough to keep them. Besides, i would throw the money into other things before I change those gages.

Let me know if you want to see my install - I have pictures in my gallery.

I need to check my PM... .

Ok, heres how I chose gauges.

I dont care if they glow in the dark, have billet colored bezels or any other nonsence. I personally (no offense, Juan) think the Di-pricols looked cheap. My grandpa used the Autometer Z-series, and I felt the same about those. the Westachs looked to airplane-ish to me, and the needle looked real small and prone to bounce.

I narrowed my choices down to the Diesel Dynamics gauges (yes, their autometer Z-series) and Isspro. I chose isspro because of their no-nonsense look, they matched my factory gauges pretty good, and I had a set of Isspros in my boat and they were great. Also, the isspros have a colored dial, meaning that it is color coded for wives and girlfriends, so to speak. the Pyrometer is green until about 1,000*, then yellow until like 1300* and then red. It is obvious when the needle goes to the red something is wrong.

Go to www.isspro.com and check the stuff out. I also have an isspro catalog I will bring next time we meet for you to look at if you'd like. I have a guy in washington that can get me Isspro's pretty cheap, and also Dieselmanor.com has great prices (I think~ 275$ for pyro/boost/trans with 3 pillar pod).

Let me know if you want any more info, or if you wanna look at my isspros.

None taken :)

If I knew then what I knew now, I would have done the ISSPRO gages.

That said, for my application the DiPricols are working fine. If I were living on the ragged edge like SOME guys I know, it would be different. :-laf

I too am looking at a guage project. I called and talked to a guy at Geno's. He recommended the DiProcols but Juan you don't sound too happy with them. Jeff, I'd like to see the pic's you have of your guages. Did you do FP? I need to get to ABQ. Have to work the weekend of the races :( so I am probably gonna have to try to hit a lunch meet, maybe next week?

Well, another personal choice, I am not to keen on Genos. they tried to convince my grandpa that he could not get the trans/FP/egt/boost all four to match from any manufacturer. Well, he bought it, so now he has 2 brands of gauges in his truck. I know damn good and well that he was just tryin to sell him what he had in stock. (he has Westach/Autometer in it).

Let me find some pics of my guages. Or take some. I think the only other way I'd go other than isspro is SPA or Livorsi Marine (just because they are different). Not that this matters much, but the older Banks gauges were actually Isspro's rebadged.

No I do not have FP. I have a 12V, so it isnt as imperative. All I run is EGT/boost. between those two, the GPS and the G-tech, it is already too much to look at!!! My grandpas truck has the FP though. He should be at some of out upcoming meetings.

Another option is mounting. I have run mine in 3 different places. I mounted them by the floor once (to be inconspicuous sp?, everybody wants to race if they see guages!), I bought gauge cups from Jegs and mounted those to the pillar, and now I have the 2-pillar mount. I actually think I like the gauge cups on the pillar better than the 2-A pillar mount. Better visibility, and you could fit all 4 of them on the pillar if you wanted to do it that way, as oppposed to 3 on the pillar and one on the column.

for pics of the Isspros I have, go to isspro.com and check out the Non-EV series. If you like the EV series, they are pretty reasonable at dieselmanor.com. the non-EV series are alittle harder to get.

just to jump right on in to this one, i like my gauges, and will be posting pics whenever i remember  . i have autometer z series and i think they look good and match pretty well, i cant brag too much because my pyro has started bouncing all over the place, but i think it is self inflicted i screwed it up upon istallation, and it has finally started dying. i will probably be putting a fuel pressure on the dash next to the 3 pod like wagn said but not yet

Dude, what did you do to the pyro already? Did you drop the guage or something?

I found out that on a future Oprah show, they will have "men who sleep with their mother-in-law's daughter". Should be an interesting program. :-laf

As Benny Hill (for all you old-timers) used to say, "Think about it. ;) "

Put an order in yesterday at dieselmanor.com for a set of ISSPRO EV's -- pyro, boost, and FP tripple Apod. Thanks for the tips. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Actually, I think the folks at Genos are very good if you know what you want. I have talked to them numerous times and have always gotten the info I need. They were honest with me when I started looking for gages and mounts.

As for the DiPricols, when I got them they were the best match, and no, it's not that I am unhappy with them. Since I bought mine, there are other options out now. If I were going to buy now, I would buy the ISSPRO over the DiPricols.

I did a lot of searching on TDR before I bought. I feel I made an informed decision thanks to the TDR. A great place to go and spend your money :-laf

Sorry I missed you all on the lunch thingie. Alas, I won't be able to make the 20th - I am being called east for work which means heading out of ABQ by 11:00am likely. If it changes, I'll show, though.

Juan

I intend to spend $$ at Geno's myself. Hope my previous post didn't sound as if I was being steered away from them. I did follow the recommended links and did like the packages offered at dieselmanor. The ISSPRO FP guage kit uses the sending unit from DiProcol. (No fuel into the cab). Hopefully I too made an informed decision based on information here.

I did. I sent it to you too. I will send another today or tomorrow as a reminder.

Actually, I think the folks at Genos are very good if you know what you want.

I agree, but feel that it was wrong to mislead somebody just because they did not know any better. It was partially his fault for not reasearching it more, but even still, that is what makes a vendor a great vendor in my eyes. It is not a big deal, but now my G-pa has like $400 in gauges that dont match. :(

I do like the fact that Genos carries TDR stuff though, as well as emblems and such that you can usually only get at the dealer.

A reminder guys, next sunday (the 20th) 11:00 at K&I diner on broadway, then to the strip!

That was the exact reason why I ordered from dieselmanor.com. I called them to verify that I was selecting guages that matched. They have many guage "packages" to choose from but none have FP. So I selected a dual package pyro and boost, then ordered the FP kit (guage and isolator unit) for the third guage making a set. The cusomer service at dieselmanor was top notch. I'd recommend them for that reason, plus their prices are good.
