I third that. Glen Branum is a great guy, been a family friend for a Looooong time. He's rebuilt a few T-5's for us, the 727 in my yellow truck, a 727 in my gramp's motorhome, etc. great work, good prices, helluva nice guy.

I sent Luis to him and he seems happy (although his truck is still slow :p )

His shop is on isleta, about a mile and a half north of Rio Bravo (isleta and blake. . )

The only other option, in my opinion, is Mark Chapman. he works at melloy dodge and is a certified DTT installer, and also a great guy. he did the DTT in Jon Ebia's truck and seemed to help Jon out quite a bit since then.

It's winter - folks are hibernating. . ?? Not too many folks are willing to brave the cold confines of a garage to do 4k GSK installs, injectors, plates, turbos, etc. . ... or repowers... .

:-laf

c'mon, nobody in their right mind would put in a set of 4K's or a plate in a freezing cold garage (with no light to boot..... :-laf ).

oh wait, I think the only reason I stayed out there was the krispy kremes.

But the ride in the GN made it all worthwhile... . my truck felt sloooooooow the whole way home.

:D Yeah, I think I still have a sunburn from those halogen floodlights!

Hey, ya know - 'ol Donnelly can cure that acceleration issue, now that ya got a decent clutch in BIG Red. .

I blew my transmission the other day, does anyone know of any good transmission shops in Las Cruces they would highly recommend? Thanks

Absolutely!! Eric Ruybalid. 5270958 or 6211209. Eric is a personal friend of mine (lives off of Elk street, north of 70 about 2 miles) & is an excellent automatic transmission guy. He builds them for a living, and does side work out of his shop. He will build it any way YOU want it, and stands behind his work 100%. . He's priced right too - he charges fixed labor, plus the cost of parts - which he gets at jobber prices anyway to save you even more loot. .

HTH -

I blew my transmission the other day,

How'd you blow the 5600 up???? sooo, I remember a post a while back that said you were gonna go Auto if you ever had to, is that still the plan??

Sorry Argo - let the cat out of the bag!!

uh oh, now you owe me big time!!! you're gonna have to let me borrow your GN for a day or two to make it up to me... .

you got your clutch in finally!? nice!

Yeah, I got about 2500 miles on it already. I like it. If you let it out to slow, it starts to get grabby, but if you just let it out, its a nice quick engagement.

Only problem is, now it wont hook up in 2nd or 3rd gear, it just gets tire spin unless I baby it until about 2200 rpm and then let er rip. buuut, it defuels at like 2600, so now I need gov springs.

But first I need a turbo.

and before that, I need $$$$.

all in due time, I guess.

Hmm. . You blew a 5600. . ?? I assumed it was an auto. . :-laf Give Eric a call, anyway - he should still be able to help out!!!

As for borrowing the GN, Argo - well. . uhhh... NO... .

Hey - if any of you'z guys wanna get together for lunch today, let me know - I am meeting up with Ben Tanner at noon (near Gibson/Yale) to go check out his Cummins repowered Chevy. . Since I'll be down that way, it would be pretty easy to meet up somewhere... Shoot me an email if so. !

Linc

noon eh??? i should be headed back from work about noonthirty, gimme a call or email or something linc lemme know whats goin on! and as far as racing... i will race any damn thing win or lose he he, as a matter of fact i raced (if thats what you wanna call it) a grand national the other day on the way back from the casino at like 0-dark thirty on the freeway so there was plenty of open road, it was more of a learning experience for a previously un-gn-educated person, it was sweet. very nice

It was pretty lame. No signs of anything going wrong. I was coming back from WSMR and I felt a slight surge, thought it was in the cruise control. I tapped the cruise off with the brake and started to take my exit, I pushed the clutch in and started moving from 6th to neutral and BLAMO! Rear end started to lock up and bounce (55mph) ofcourse shaking violently. I thought my a pillar gauges were going to come off. I got to the side of the road, the shifter was still in neutral but as I let out the clutch the truck tried to move. Ofcourse there are chunks of broken stuff in there now I'm sure as it wont actually roll.

Yes because of my knee I was planning on going with a built auto when my clutch needed replacement next. Ofcourse this is quit a bit sooner than I expected and I was hoping to be able to offset some of the cost by selling the 5600. I really don't want to waste the money having the 5600 rebuilt, if I do I may as well keep it I guess but the knee won't agree. I talked to DTT and another member from PA says he has a auto available thats in Texas with "some" DTT parts. I need to talk to him, I want to do it right the first time.

One of my dads friends from Grants had the same thing happen to him. He works construction, and hauls around a 40' fifth wheel. he was coming here in Alb for a party we were having and as he was exiting the freeway, he was going to downshift from 6 to 5, and as he did it the trans totally locked up. It twisted the driveshaft (prolly due to the 20Klb fifthwheel on back... ) and all. Luckily, he convinced the guy at the dealership that the trans, x-fer case, and rear axle all were harmed, so he got all new parts from the trans back.

Another option is to buy a 47RE core (I know Brannex here in alb has some. . I think Linc paid $150), and give it to mark Chapman at Melloy and let him do all DTT stuff to it. He is the local DTT installer... .

If you wanna go that route and you need me to pick up some parts or deliver some parts, lemme know.

--Jeff

Yeah, but then you'll need the TPS, the wiring for the transmission, etc. etc. . Just go with a 47RH if ya can!!!

Brannex is a good local resource for Dodge Cummins trannies. . They had a functional 47RH for, like $800... but, yeah - once in a while he'll get a smoked Dodge transmission & let it go for $150. . I can get stuff out of El Paso / Las Cruces as well, if you need. .

Wow thanks for all the offers of help, it really means alot to me. I talked to Stephen at DTT and he asked how far I was from Melloy. I told him what the power levels were I planned for the future (twins and mach 6's) and that I was goin to do a console ratchet shift instead of the column shift.

He recommended I go with the 47RH because the E would cause me problems. He also said that a trans like that should be built at their shop and the quote was $4869. 00 plus $275 shipping. That includes Billet input and intermediate shafts. If I could pick up a core for $150 It would save some cash I'm short on atm with the holidays and all. I don't see why Melloy wouldn't be able to do it being a certified installer. Well safe and Merry Christmas to all of you and maybe I can sort this after Christmas.

Come on New Mexico, let's hear some chatter. We haven't had a post since two days before Christmas. Who's buying a new Dodge, or a new 5er or a new horse trailer? What new toy's did you get for Christmas? I got a 2GB iPod Nano. I'm excided to get it hooked up to my truck.
