That is a question only FCA can answer. Most likely not. They filed with the NHTSA with your vin agreeing to do specified work on the truck.
I'm afraid your right … Will ask the dealer about it Monday . I know if the welding is done correctly there should be no problem with the electronics of the truck
I'm still worried about it do not have extended warranty. Be nice to have them remove the link for welding … only two nuts holding it on . On the fence on waiting for the upgraded part , think it will be long time before they are available maybe not . Get the dam thing welded then toss in scrap pile put on Synergy unit

I guess i will find out Monday the FCA specialist in going to go over this case. I would think they would be able to tell us when there going get to 2014-2016 we should have an answer. I need the truck for the wife and kid horse showing season which starts in may. I have had 5 duramax's and a friend of mine loves his 2016 lonehorn and i towed with it and like how it towed. But this my first encounter the FCA and it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

The dealer put that taste there. FCA just following the law. Now does FCA handle recalls the best, that may be up for debate.

Snoking i'm just going to try to reason with FCA on monday and see what they come up with. But at this point i can't even get out of my loan do the clock on the loan started march 12th. Fca said there not going to make my payments and the dealer is saying the same it a big mess. I feel the dealer and FCA have all the balls in there court and i'm just the dumb ass throwing money out like a rap video

Here is the revised procedure, found it on the NHTSA website. If the government published it , I guess FCA isn't going to care if we host a copy too.

The changes to the procedure are indicated by RED type making them easy to find.

Please do NOT download this Rev 2 file, grab the Rev 3 (April 2019) version posted later in this thread

Buffam..Did you ever Take Possession of the Truck....MN law is 72Hrs...if You did NOT most States will void the sale. Most States Require dealerships to be License to Sell Vehicles... You walk in to the Dealer and State, your going to file a complaint with the Dept that oversee that Lic ( Its Commerce in Most States) they will be more helpful on exchange or refund.

If he really wants the truck he purchased, I think he has them over a barrel to provide something similar to drive until they can perform the outstanding recall on the one they sold him.

As of tonight there are over 1,000 parts in the system. Don't let dealers tell you they cant do it because of parts. This only applies to the years and models listed in the third version of the recall. 2014 to 2016 are still not available.

I didn't take possession of the vehicle but the bank stated once you sign the p&s and we pay them. The only way to get out of this is to pay off the loan and we know the dealer isn't going to pay 4 grand more so it seem they got me over barrel. The state of Conn seems to have the dealers back not the buyers. This will be the last time i buy out of state

Loans can be unwound, even after funding. I have gone through it a couple times in the powersports industry, and these were new units, so warranty registrations had to be unwound, too. But it's a lot of work, and the dealer has to be on your side to make it happen, and these folks obviously are not. I'd be digging in my heels if I were you.

To add to that if a 14-16 has an actual failure the dealer is to contact star for a fix

That's exactly right!

There now may be a thousand -AB suffix revised drag links "in the system" as another poster suggested. But there are ~800,000 trucks that should have the upgraded part!

With those numbers as context, FCA's decision to not allow dealers to order the -AB suffix draglink unless/until they have a truck down for failing the B checks does make a lot of sense. FCA apparently wants to save the few -AB parts they have for available now for those trucks that have demonstrated issues with thread engagement.

For the rest of us "lucky" enough to pass the A checks, FCA apparently hopes the weldment will keep the draglink from experiencing the catastrophic separation that leads to total loss of steering control.

While I agree with FCA's triage and -AB suffix part allocation given the numbers above, I still think that the as manufactured thread engagement on this design is at best sub-optimal, and very likely to be out of tolerance for the specified fit. I can't evaluate the internal threads on the turnbuckle without destructive testing but the male threads on the mating part look very much undersize or "washed out".

So my 10K mile new truck might well be relying on the (dreadful, see pics previously posted) tack welds to keep the turnbuckle & draglink connected and not just to keep the jam nuts from coming loose.

They just did ours the other day when it was in for the blown clutch hydraulics at 4400 miles. Didn't ask them to, but they did it, most likely so they can bill FCA and get some more money.

So they welded the existing one, or replaced it with the new style? SnoKing

I will crawl under and look and take a pic, not sure to be honest with you. Kind of still pissed off about the whole clutch failure on my 50k truck with 4400 miles, the damn thing has just been parked.

So i just got off the phone with FCA case person and they talked to the special service team for the recall and they are getting with dealer and see what they can do to move this along maybe putting a after market drag link in till they have the mopar part for the recall. It sounds like they want me to go back to have the recall performed after they get the 2015 in for the recall. i can live with that if the special service team goes for it
