Was looking on the Mopar site to see if there is any info on the SCR catalyst emissions recall for 2013-2015 Cummins 2500's. Didn't see any resolution to that, but did find this: A recall on 220 amp alternators. But I may have to login on my computer if this tablet that I'm on is too outdated to upload the file. I think the recall number is S68.

S 47 recall
2013 (DJ) RAM 2500 TruckNOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 6.7L DieselEngine (sales code ETK). built January 07, 2013 through October 03, 2013 (MDH010719 through 080315).Cummins, Inc. has determined that this Emissions Recall is necessary. FCA isassisting with the recall by working with you to facilitate the recall. The SelectiveCatalytic Reduction (SCR) system may experience degradation. This may causetailpipe emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) to exceed the Federal and/orCalifornia Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions standard.ModelsIMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles

Thanks Bob. I doubt they have applied S47 to my VIN yet. But my door sticker says build date was 6/13. I'll hope to do alternator & SCR at the same time. (When parts are available)

I did a Google search and didn't find much on the SCR recall other than FCA and Cummins are fighting over it. I also did a vin search on the Mopar site and the alternator recall didn't come up for my truck either. It fits the time line for both of these recalls. Come to think of it the track bar recall didn't come up either even though I got letters about it. I inspected it am not at all concerned mine is welded properly. I still have to do the wiring harness and the airbag reprograming. I guess at some point it will be going in for a marathon session.

I see a problem though. In the news article about the SCR recall California won't renew registrations if this recall isn't done. Mine is due shortly. We'll see what happens. I doubt they will not renew, they will want my $850 for sure.

If you don't have the 220 amp alternator, there won't be a recall for it.

Type your vin in here to see if you have the 180 amp Alternator. Or the upgrade to 220 amp alternator. The 180 amp is fine. It is only the 220 amp that is under a safety recall for killing your batteries and possibly causing a fire.

See this link. http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Dodge.html

It pulls up your window sticker. and that tells you what options you have.

If you have already had the new style scr cat installed your vin will not be on the list.We have had an easy time getting the scr cats for a good while now.

I bought the truck new and it hasn't been back for this. It has recently thrown a couple of codes related to this but CEL goes out in a day or so. Still a fabulous truck, no real complaints except for the crappy mirrors and the tailgate. Taking in on and off is a pain especially the troublesome wiring connector for the lock and marker lights. I have a gooseneck connector on my trailer so it is off and on all the time. In fact I was thinking just yesterday that I need to get a cargo net.

Just got my re call notice 3 weeks too late my alt burned up already..... Now I have to call for a refund for the repair.

Did it take out anything else? Were you on a long drive? How fast were you going and what did you experience? I hear these things are drive by wire. Fully elecronic throttle.

I looked up the recall S68 on the NHTSA site and saw that it's for trucks made before June, 2013. I had a momentary scare since I do have the 220 amp alternator and I'm going on a long trip tomorrow with much of it in near zero temps where it would be no fun to breakdown towing my 5th wheel.

My 2014 was made in September 2013 so it would appear I'm past the cutoff date. I never got a letter on it either and the MOPAR site shows I am up to date on all recalls.

Mine was mfg June 2013. The alternator is listed as a required recall on the website when searching my VIN. But they say they won't send the notice until parts are available. I don't see the SCR for my VIN, though. So i might not need that

Yes was on a slightly long trip I got a strange noise my lights got really bright then the Batt CEL Lamp came on saying it was not charging. After about 20 min I got a "Safe Batt Mode" message on the dash. The dealer said the Alt had failed and burned up some wiring Fuseable link? My out of pocket expense was $1014 to get the truck fixed. I called the Customer service hot line and at first they said my Vin number was not part of the recall but after review the said they couldn't under stand why my Vin was not part of the recall group. They updated their list and said I would be getting a re call notice and to call when I got the letter and then they would be able to process a repair refund. Oh be sure to save the invoice for the repair. Flash forward to today Recall notice in hand refund process started just waiting for a check now.

I had my SRC replaced the first year I owned the truck I wonder if the replacement SRC will need to be replaced. The unit they put in still has the Ammonia sensor although I think the latest computer reflash did away with it. I guess time will tell....

Can someone post a picture (or a few pics) Of the SCR with ammonia sensor? I realize there are pressure sensors, temp sensors, and NOx sensor.. I can find the DEF injector, but the sensors might be harder to differentiate. I thought all 2013's had the old one. But but want to check. Bob said if we have the new one, we won't be in the recall.

Thx!

Ok Good and bad news on the Alt recall.....

Just heard back from Chrysler Customer Service they said that they can't refund my Alt claim invoice at this time as there are No repair parts available at this time. They said that the unit that was installed in my truck, just 3 weeks ago, is part of the "Bad Batch". Once they have "known good parts available" I will be notified when to bring my truck in for repair/ replacement of the Alt. At that time they will be able to refund me for the Alt that is currently in my truck.
Sit and wait is all I can do.....

ED.......hurry up and wait seems to be the norm with Rams recalls these days. At least now I know what happened on my last truck that seemed to be plagued with charging failures that the dealer couldn't figure out.....they kept claiming it was my Vision x light that was wired into the upfitter switches.
