Fair enough.... I hopped into this when you implied how ridiculous it was that they would make a HD shortbed. There are plenty of people (myself included) that wanted exactly that.

If they didn't make a shortbed, my wife would have forced me to buy a Tacoma. I really like my shorty.
And i'm glad it was available in a diesel. I would not have been able to do 5000 miles of towing that i did with a mini-truck. And instead of camping, we'd be staying in cabins.

Mingoglin

That's a nice looking truck you got there that Prairie Brown color is nice. Look better if it was Delmonico Red ROTFL. Just kidding great looking truck.

Had a funny thing with keyless entry the other day. We drove over to friends in Sun City West for the night. I park in front of their home and there was a light pole right out side the passengers door. Keyless entry would not work! Key fob did work! Drove the truck around for a week now and the problem did not re-occur! So I think is had something to do with the light pole??? SNOKING

Some RF interference maybe?

What is the FCA recommended break-in for the 6.7/Aisin combo?

I believe the manual says 500 miles of mixed driving before towing heavy. That is not just for Aisin/6.7. But also includes all combos and is mainly for the rear differential

As others have stated the break-in is mostly for the drivetrain and specifically the ring and pinion. Here is the excerpt from the 2016 Owners manual.

CAUTION!
• Do not tow a trailer at all during the first 500 miles
(805 km) the new vehicle is driven. The engine, axle
or other parts could be damaged.

CAUTION! (Continued)
• Then, during the first 500 miles (805 km) that a
trailer is towed, do not drive over 50 mph (80 km/h)
and do not make starts at full throttle. This helps
the engine and other parts of the vehicle wear in at
the heavier loads.

First part, I waited about 480 miles, so I should be good. As for the second part, oops. :-laf

"Held the business managers hand to the stove and bought the 8 year 120k Max warranty for $2643"

That's a hell of a deal!!!

That's a hell for the business manager............
Got one on a two year truck with 30,000 miles for $2210.00 ..........on 2-4-16

Wait for oil pressure before putting in gear. I believe cummins test runs them for 24 hours.. You tube cummins engines.. They are put under various loads and a computer verifys all perimeters are in spec.

You have no real oil pressure indication in the cab :) If you don't get oil pressure at startup it will take 30 seconds for the ECM to tell you.

Unless they install and remove a separate ECM just for the test run (unlikely) there is no test run for each individual engine. The ECM stores the engine hours and there isn't 24 hours on an engine when a truck is delivered new.

They are started and briefly run but the run is so short they don't even add coolant.

Testing during development phase is different than testing during production phase.

We are on the way home from Arizona and doing lots of 6 and 6+ percent grades. 4 gear is the go to hill climbing gear and 3rd is the down hill gear on the steeper grades. GCW is similar to the 22050 that we weighed going South after Christmas. Truck does not shift in TH to 5th gear until I hit 56 MPH.

Filled DEF before leaving AZ and added another box today at around 14-1500 miles. Was going to use the pump at 7 Feathers, however it was all coated with dried DEF white crud, so I took a pass and stopped at a WM.

Anyone know how to make a voice request to fine a RV Resort or camp ground POI with the 8.4 u-connect???

With 11k miles power seems stronger. Mileage on the flat no wind seems to be at 12 or so.

Still think the Banks EB on the 2001.5 worked better and more predicable.

We however love the new truck.
