FWIW: A friend of mine's Supra with a pretty big single doesn't make 10psi until 5500rpm...

Enough about Supras... . I could talk for hours about those cars.

Jim: Sweet setup!! I'm looking forward to seeing some numbers out of the 'old girl with the new setup...

I am very stumped on the twin set up.

I understand the exhaust part of the set up. But I thought the little turbo was used to spool the big turbo? I thought the outside air would be drawn in buy the little turbo, and after the compresser housing it would blow into the "outsideair" intake of the big turbo, then from there it would be compressed by the big one and shot threw the IC and then into the motor. How come the big turbo blows into the small one?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I dont understand why they are run the way they are.

The extra boost is handled by pop off valves, I've got 2 now and might add another as I had to open then up more today after I turned the water on... ... ... scary!

Air goes in the big turbo compresses and blows out into the little turbo and compresses a little more then to the intercooler and so on. On the exhaust side it comes into the little turbo and is dumped to the big one to drive it hard then out of it's exhaust to the down pipe.

Most of it? Where does the rest go? Is there a wastegate on the big turbo?

Did a little maintenance this evening then went for test runs and I can control the boost now(70-75) with the two pop offs so that is were the boost tuning is at other than the dyno, I need to spend some time tuning there to find exactally what works in both areas. Next is a PDR intercooler that you'll will find out about later after the R&D is done, then she's ready to be freshened up or a whole new short block and Jim's bank account says no to both, but the 85 psi run with the water on was JUST too much to forget, I'd like to see were this combo can go but I'll never be able to repeat it with a single O-ring in the head, fire rings will do it though! This is a long way from a #8 plate installed in Sept of 01' right after I bought it... ... sick I know, or stupid!

Jim

Yea it's fun but it's also expensive and you know I'm not rich.

I real interested in your setup, be sure to let us know when it's up and running.

Jim,

That is an awesome set up. Makes me feel inadequate now... . hahaha

Oh well, baby steps for me now, then bigger steps later on.

Thanks for your help with the DTT question. Thats next for me :) !

Funny you say that, as that is what I feel now! Life is full of ups and downs and this is one! I could tell you that I didn't dyno but that would be a lie, or make up some number, lie again, but what I will tell you is that I'm a little down about the power today! Yes I'm still in the 700+ hp club but thought it would be higher... ... back to the books! Two things that were good, valet power is at 560 and that is with no water or aux fuel, just normal driving. Water/Methanol is up to 72 hp and 133 ft/lbs gain in full fuel mode..... the best yet. Guess ole' Jimbo has a little tuning to do! The lite of the whole story is the two folks that rode with me after the dyno run( friends) I lit it off in first to second to third then fourth with the converter locked the whole time at 80 psi, all I can remember is not the shifting of the gears but the Holy **** Jim, on the runs..... dog was on a hunt and running real good! Need to work on it a bit then well be back! I put this out for you'll that only hear the upside and not the down side... ... ... . Humble pie... ..... we all need to eat it once in a while!

Jim

that set-up looks factory, nice work, you need to add a transfer case and a front axle and head for Muncie in june. Is the B/B high enough to drain back to the oil pan normally?I'm heading for troy,MI dyno day tomorrow, we'll see what kurts B1"sp"will make.

Jim. . do not fret ol' humble pie WILL bite you good someday LOL usually in the form of a major broken part. . but you know that already Buddy LOL

Found the issue and fixed it... ... this was a Jim issue so no pointing fingers by me, re-dyno is scheduled for Sat.

Is the B/B high enough to drain back to the oil pan

Yep, just like the 3B..... it works well!

Hey stop picking on me JB@C... ..... thanks for the polishing tips they worked well.

Valet mode, P pumps use a boost signal to move the AFC arm out of the way so the Governor arm can ride the fuel plate to schedule the fuel curve, a valet switch keeps this from happening and allows us to run around in a less fuel situation, like cruising with the box off on a 24V.

Hmmmmm, just ruined my keyboard, too much drooling. Very impressive work, Jim. Lately I decided my goal was 500hp, don't know if that will be enough when I finally get there after seeing/reading about your latest work. I was curious how you polished your turbos(what kind of polish, method of buffing, ect. ) Do I need to remove the whole turbo or can I just remove the intake housing? Thanks and keep up the good work. Jordan
