I bought a new 07 Saturday, a left over on a lot. I was really happy until about 4pm today. 341 miles on the clock and the check engine light is on. There is a sticker under the hood that says the truck was up dated on 6/14/08 and has the numbers 55351115AT on it. Any idea why this light is on, the truck runs fine otherwise. Thanks. ( It is a 6. 7, 3500, Mega Cab 4x4. )

Try and cycle the key 3 times and see if any codes pop up and then get back to us . sounds like it might need a new flash is all .

close the doors then cycle the key 3 times very fast, off-on, off-on, off-on then look at the odometer display for the codes to pop up.

If they dont come up then your not cycling fast enough.

I had the same flash prior to delivery of my 08, made it 7 miles down the road, had the check engine light come on. Went back, the checked it out, and did I don't know what, other than turning my DRL's off. Made it about 20 miles home, ( 70 miles ), light came back on. Took it back the next day, they checked it out and found a bad O2 sensor. None is in stock, on national back order. They stole one off a new truck on the lot, filled it with fuel, sent me home, not problem so far, 8,000 miles later.

my buddy had the same prob with his 07, light came on right after he bought it, took it in, said it needed a flash and an 02 sensor that was on backorder. They got one from somewhere? installed it and all has been well!

Are you sure the sticker was dated June 08? That AT flash is five revisions behind the AX flash it should be at. Sounds more like it was from June 2007. Get it in right away and get it up to AX. The O2 sensor should be cleaned at the very minimum and a forced regen. After that you should be good.

Yes, the sticker was dated 08, the truck sat on the lot for a year, build date 5/07. They updated it and it's twin, also a year old, the same day in 08. Anyhow, I took it to the dealer yesterday, seems the turbo has to come out, drill a hole in it, do something to it, mess with the barometric sensor, I don't know, I was so ****** I quit listening. I drop it off Monday night, should be able to pick it up Tuesday night. I hope this wasn't a big mistake, 341 miles and busted dosen't make me feel to positive. Truck runs great right now, wish I could just live with the light on and not have surgery done on it but the service guy said it will just get worse and go into limp mode. Gotta love it.

MY BAD!!!!, turns out if all the sensors are plugged in, the check engine light will go out. The sensor on top if the intake tube, just behind the air filter was not plugged all the way in. Looked like it was in, but wasn't. Today was a good day. Thanks to Rick the service advisor and Eric the tech at United Dodge Land here in Vegas!

I'd say get used to this Check Engine Light on this truck as it is going to show up very often. It is due to the poor quality of the emissions equipment on these trucks. 90% of the owners have this come up within very few miles of ownership and very often. That is the reason why most of them are taking off the DPF and EGR things of the truck. Because of these things the filters and turbo gets clogged very often and lose power. This is supposedly bad for the engine also. So thank EPA for the wonderful restrictions that led to these crappy things or just take them away and be happy and have a great truck...

My 06 has never been in to a dealer for anything in 40,000 miles (knock on wood!). Anyone who has an 07-up with all the DPF and EGR stuff should invest in a GOOD code reader, and I don't mean the $49. 95 jobs at Harbor freight. I have an Actron model 9145 that I bought in 03 back when I had my Ram 1500. It cost me $200 then on sale (reg $300) and when I bought the Cummins rig it cost $45 to update it with a new plug-in board they sent me.

I've only needed it once for the 06 and that was my fault when I ran the batteries down one weekend and threw some faults. The 9145 will display stuff like rail pressure, rpm, manifold pressure, ambient temp, ) O2 sensor condition and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember at the moment. There are probably other brands out there that do the same thing and I don't know which ones are on top of the 07 and up technology, but having some idea what is wrong before you run to the dealer is really nice. Being OBD2 compatible means you can use it on any vehicle from 96 and later. Mine has paid for itself 10 times over ,at least.

Ninety percent!? At that rate, let's see, how many thousands of trucks would that be? Probably enough to make a line around the block at every Dodge dealer in the country, and I'm not seeing that happening at the stores in my area, or on this website. Some are having problems that we've read about on the TDR site, and I hope they get them resolved soon, but I doubt that the problems that you claim exist are as widespread as you imagine.

A guy named Gary, I just spoke to on the phone, he has a new 08 and he said the turbo was getting carboned up. Dishman Dodge wanted to do a reflash and drill a hole in his turbo? What the heck kind of fix is that? I am sure there must be more to it, but it does not sound good.

Do you work for Dodge?? From my experience reading a variety of reviews at various websites, the emissions system in this truck is very poorly (I should say extremely poorly) built especially on the 07. 5 and 08 models. It would form a line around every dodge dealer in the country, if they were not fixing them, but Dodge is fixing them because there is possibly several lawsuits looming at the door... . Yes there are thousands of them with these problems and the dealer that I take them to tells me this frequent malfunction due to soot of the various parts of the emissions equipment is a very common occurance. Several of them have been bought back as lemons by Dodge (I have heard several of them share there experiences. . ) Out of the hundreds of reviews and forum members in several dodge forums there was probably one or two who haven't had any issues with this. Oh. . and the once who don't have these CEL come on them, it is just a matter of time. Some people are getting smart and throwing the DPF and EGR away so that their trucks will work properly... Once you remove these things it will work terrific!! I had my light come up 4 times in a matter of 2 months and 2000 miles... I am not trying to talk down the truck in any way since I really love the truck and the Cummins engine. However, the emissions equipment is really premature and I want to say Cummins and Dodge didn't do their homework before rolling them out.

I think you are grossly overstating the severity of the problem and the number of owners who have or are having problems.

The problems reported by TDR members are a very small number compared to all the new trucks that are in service.

Mine only has 10k miles but has been perfect so far.

I agree. So far, my truck has run perfectly for close to 10k also, except for the oil dilution on my last oil analysis. I think the AX reflash has fixed that. I've had no codes or strange things happen, I hope it stays that way. I would have to also agree that Dodge/Cummins may have given us too much, too soon, but you have to admit that the system really works amazingly well at reducing emissons and particulates. Time will tell all. Oh, and by the way, I do'nt work for Dodge, and this is my forth CTD.

Well I bought mine in Sept of last year and I drove it for a couple of months and got a bunch of intermittent codes so I take it in. Drive it another couple of months and start getting a bunch of intermittent codes so I take it back in in Feb. Drive it another 5 months and I'm once again getting a couple of intermittent codes, 0402 and 2262 so back in we go. I'd say that the Emissions/Software is a problem and after only 26,800 miles and 10 months I'd also say that 3 trips for CEL lights is borderline on ridiculous. Maybe these trucks should have been driven on the road before being released to the public because one thing's is for sure, these trucks ain't cheap.
