Well, the $620 carport saved RATTLINRAM from getting the poop beat out of it this evening. A severe thunderstorm cut loose with hail the size of three golf balls glued together. The carport saved my truck and the wife’s Camaro. The CJ-5 took a few hits in the hood and the 5er took two in the side, but not too bad. Sure am glad I spent that $620 last month!

I can't remember seeing hail that big around here and hope we don't see it again!,,,,,,,,,,Glad it only lasted less than a minute.

Dennis, I thought I was doing good to build a 24'x24' carport for $1100. What did you do to get the cost down so much, 2nd hand materials?

I bought one of those pre-fab galvinized square tube frame, aluminum roofed jobs. It's one of the heavy duty ones and should last a long time. They sell alot of them around here and I ordered the regular one, but they delivered a heavy duty one by mistake. They didn't want to take it back since it was a week late already, so they put it up with no extra charge.

With the proper care, it should out last anything I could have built and now it has more than paid for itself. It's not quite as big as yours, it's only 18 x 21, but it does the job nicely.
