After finding a crack in the exhaust manifold last week I ordered a new HTT from Chuck at New Era Diesel. It came in yesterday . Seeing as we are supposed to go camping soon I figured I'd better get it installed pronto. I took the day off from work and started bright and early but by the time I actually started to work on the truck it was a bit after 9am.

Everything went as smooth as could be hoped for and I was done before noon. That even included a trip to Home Depot for some wide masking tape to cover any turbo openings. I managed to leave the turbo hooked to the down pipe and only took out the air filter housing, disconnected the air out tube, oil drain tube and of course removed the turbo from the old manifold.

After I got the old manifold off I discovered a second BIGGER crack right down the middle underneath. Reassembly was easy but I really could not reinstall the rotation locks on the bolt heads. They get jambed on but I will have to deal with them later.

Its a good thing I changed the manifold and no more leaky exhaust noise.

All things considered this was a pretty easy project.

I looked at the silencer ring but decided to leave it in because it might be too much for my better half...

Just noticed no more exhaust leak. The power "feels" like it comes on a bit sooner but I should be able to tell more when I tow the camper. No Pyro yet. Now that I don't have to drill for the probe I am going to get one.
