No heat in cab

I feel bad for the uninformed owners of trucks/vehicles that rely on the dealer or local shops for maintaining their vehicle.

Had a grampa talk with my truck trainer as he showed me how things work. I noticed on the display, when he was showing me, how to scroll around it, that the tire pressures were still at transport levels, 87-89 psi. What happened to dealer prep? He almost refused to air them down and gave me all sorts of stupid reasons not to. I stood my ground:) He also told me how to turn on the fog lights on a truck that does not have them, then wanted to argue with me about it, said they all have themo_O

Ordered a set of side steps and mud flaps, my driver cant get in the truck, but after a run to Auto Safety House (ASH) to pick up a gooseneck ball kit, she said It can stay:D
I got ripped off to the tune of $150, so much for buying local. That was kinda my fault for not doing my homework. I assumed it was a B&W kit, $300 on E-trailer, but nope, it was a Kurt @ $354 for a $191 kit.

Been reading my operators manual, 534 pages v/s my '01 @ 290:eek: dang, do I have a lot to learn!

Bought a case of 75w/140 Valvoline synthetic, while it was on sale at Napa. Not going to run the 75w85 towing. I will probably run the recommended 10w/30 synthetic blend Rotella but Walmart only had one gallon, Napa not at all. 10w/30 oil seems to be hard to find. In my climate, I really don't need 05w/40 but at least it is available, so maybe go that route. Dang, 15w/40 was so simple. Gotta order some filter kits, probably Geno's, not going to run Wix, Lol

I did not know B&W made a ball for the factory set up. It must have the silly little detent like the Curt one does :D
The standard B&W like I have in my truck has a square, not round shank. Very solid set up.
I have seen those Curt detents rust solid in one winter around here when left in place.
I know, not something you have to worry about :p

What steps and flaps did you order?

not going to run Wix, Lol

:)

Nick, I buy diesel rated 10w30 oil for my tractor. I also run it in everything that requires 10w30. I buy from here, free shipping if you buy enough.

Then you watch for the rebates, like this one (must be purchased from an approved participating vendor). Good for $9 back per gallon, ends up costing around $10.75 per gallon after rebate. But ends 05/31!

See, I am already learning, I didn't know Mobil had a 10w/30 synthetic blend, I am not a fan of Shell, but do like Mobil Delvac and Speedway Motors. I really didn't want to get into ordering oil but I may halve to.

Plenty of money to be saved by shopping around online for consumable items for your truck. I run Chevron Delo 400 XSP in 5W40, which previously was always available at Walmart. I haven’t been able to procure it there lately, so I’ve ordered from Amazon my last three or four changes. I basically get all of my consumables from Amazon....Donaldson, Fleetguard, MOPAR, etc.

Made an excuse to drive the truck, 408 mile round trip today, 620 miles now so gonna load'er up soon.

408 miles, 19.6 gallons is 20.8 mpg doing the math, the display said 21.2 so it is pretty close. That's as good as my worn out '01. I didn't expect that. It was a slower secondary road mostly, only 20 miles of freeway.

Hard to complain about MPG with those numbers

That is probably the best it will ever get. It is at it's lightest and most arrowdynamic now. As I add weight and wind resistance, the mileage will go down even as it breaks in.

I am really bad about "what if" and carry too much junk. When I switch my goodies from the '01, I need to only take real important stuff, yeah right:D

Took Greg's advice and ordered oil and filters online. Dang, Mopar fuel filters cost more than a complete oil/fuel filter change on my '01.

It might take a few extra minutes the next time, but don’t be afraid to look at the individual part numbers for the rear and front filters. A few sellers on Amazon sell them individually, and occasionally one can piece the fuel filters together a few dollars less individually than as a set. I did this exact same thing the last time I ordered two sets of Fleetguard filters.

I am considering using these guys next time, if I can beat them up enough on a dozen of each. A friend of mine and my nephew have expressed interest in splitting a purchase of 12 sets.
