No 4-Low

I have a 2006 2500 6 speed. Since the truck was new the 4-low doesn't engage but 4-high works just fine. It is an electronic t-case, I can hear the 4-low trying to engage but it never goes in. I do not wish to take it to the dealer as usual. Anyone else had this problem? Do you think it may need a new actuator? Or could it be in the T-case?

Do you have the clutch pushed in when trying to engage 4low? Sometimes mine is easier to put (manual shift) if the truck is rolling slowly.

Yes, clutch all the way in. I have even tried rolling just a little and all I get is a loud bang.

I don't like going to the dealer either. I would first look under on the transfer case to see if anything is loose and if not take it in before something breaks or you get stuck somewhere and need it and it's broken.

I had it happen on my '06. New transfer case required.
