No Brake Lights with ign off

I've done a search, but didn't find anything like this. My brake lights will not come on unless the truck is either running, or the ign switch is in the "run" position. Will not come on with the ign switch in the acc position. While the vehicle is running, everything works fine.



Starting looking into this when my brake controller would only work on manual. There is a thread about this, however, it never stated if the brake lights would work with ign off.



Any suggestions? Stop light switch? Brake controller fired? Did I miss a fuse? I don't see how it could be a fuse if everything works with the truck running, but hay, I'm open for ideas. 2004. 5 2500 4X4, automatic transmission.

Brake Switch. . Replace About $15. 00. When installing the NEW switch MAKE sure the brake Pedal is all the WAY back before flipping the Adjustment lever.

Thanks for the info. I did some more troubleshooting today, and found the CMHSL fuse blown. I replaced the fuse, and as soon as I hit the brakes, the fuse blew again. I then disconnected all the brake lights, including the third brake light that is on my topper. Replaced the fuse, and it blew again. I'm getting ready to call advance auto parts to see if they have one in stock. If not, I will have to wait until Monday to get one from the dealership.
