No exhaust

I am installing my exhaust tonight and was wondering if it would hurt anything to start her up without any exhaust on... just to see how she barks with out the muzzle on? This shouldn't hurt anything except my ears right? Will it be LOUD!!

Id say just put on a downpipe then start it. You wouldnt want soot all over the engine bay... yeah?

Nick's right, at least the downpipe. You'll get a better idea of what it will sound like straight piped with the downpipe because the resonance in the pipe will not form without any pipe.

it will do no harm... and you might be a little surprized by the noise level at idle eh... it shouldn't be too loud [turbochargers make great mufflers] now if you snap the throttle...

Clayton if I had a way, I would play you a video of my 2001 Ram's engine when I started it without the exhaust manifold on it! It was pretty loud but sounded like a cheap gasser

ps I was smart enough to stick the turbo oil supply hose into the oil fill hole so as to not create an oil mess
