No fuel filters available, why not??

I had to remove my old filter and clean it with gasoline due to none available, I went to autozone, orielys, discount auto and its not available, I hate this truck with the sorry *** engine and support, thanks for the rant, please explain what the excuse is for no fuel filters in national chain auto stores. The tiny auto store called his brother at a Dodge dealer in Dallas and its 5 days awaylol i cant beleive people are still buying this engine in a truck??? Its got to be the worst thing dodge has produced since the K cars!!!!!lol

I buy mine from Geno's Garage. I would not buy any cheap filters from an auto parts store. I only buy either the fleetguard or the re-badged Mopar filters, for my truck. I buy them two at a time this way I have a spare filters on hand when I need them. I always carry an extra fuel filter in my truck also.

It sounds like your problem is your failure to plan a bit, not any problem with the Cummins engine. I also would never put a cheap substitute filter from an auto parts store in my Cummins engine.

I've had a supply of fuel filters for the ISB6. 7 in my garage since I bought the truck. Simply go to Geno's Garage website and order a filter kit or individual filter online or call their telephone number and order all you want.

Geno's now has the new replacement cannister and replaceable filter element in stock. I have one in order that should arrive today or tomorrow along with a supply of new filter elements.

I got my Fleetgard's from Geno's. I have one extra in my saddle box and a few in the barn. I personally feel that Autozone, Discount Auto, etc. . are not the place to buy maintenance parts. It makes no sense to me to buy off brand parts for any vehicle worth alot of money.



Typically when I buy a new vehicle, I buy extra maintenance parts. Some stay in the vehicle, some stay in the barn. This enables me to stay on the road and have maintenance parts available for routine maintenance.



I wouldn't own a diesel without my version of a "boonie box".

So good to have a toolbox back up filters when you need them i havnt gotten the new style yet ,but genos is still the best source and they have the new style always good to have plan"B" ready to go when you need it. Seen plenty of them "OEM" on e bay also . Always seems thathere is a goodie that i haveto throw in on my order just need some extra funding to do so .

No codes so far and AS flash working well to date. on my 08 been using the tow haul mode to pull a big brush chipper around the hills west of austin ,Exhaust brake works sweet when you kick the trans into 5th with exhaust brake on in tow haul mode.

Being in a remote or south texas region and not having back up filters for equipment maintainance down time,bad diesel and regular service intervals is crazy unless you like to drive to town a lot chasing parts that are not in stock. Welcome to corpus christi, its like that there all the time seems everyone runs out of the same thing at the same time always, just the far end of the wagon trail. Just like bein out in Baffin bay floater fishin and and runnin out of bait or supplies long way to town ,

I had read that aftermarket filters Wix, Purolator, Baldwin, and unfortunatly Fram etc. are in the redesign stage again due to the newest dodge fleetguard improvement revisions. The Auto part store parts are not validated or in stock yet and could be taking a big chance with injector/ pump issues until proven. Not worth it ,



The newest Cummins/Fleetguard/Mopar "OEM" filter can is the one to have now anyway as it filters better with the replacement element . And fulfills all warranty requirements . Order extra elements for the toolbox from Genos garage from the link below:

Just for the record, the oil filters and air filters i have been buying are re labeled mopar filters and i have purchased them at AutoZone and Orielys both!! Aparently the redesign and recall has not caught up to demand so far, I bet Dodge owes somebody money for filters and they wont make anymore or have gone broke making them for cummins. No doubt in my mind it related to the bankruptcy/bailout issue of Dodge!! It is just like the water pump i got stuck with paying for, took it in the pants for Dodge for abot $1000 total, same thing with the fuel filters, we aints gots no stinking filters for ya but wood ewe like to buy a new 6. 7 in a 2009???? lmao thanks, my dodge filters came intoday from dallas, Dont buy a dodge 6. 7 is my motto!!!! i have no dealer within a 280 mile round trip now due to them wacking the lil guys off!!! And that dealer will not ups ship filters to my ranch, go figure!!

my dealer had been fair to me at all times and the ups filter shipping is questionable without talking to a owner or a "district mananger"

To make you happy. I would talk to the owner of the dealership and then chrysler regional about that BS due to your remote location most parts guys are happy to box it up and are always accomadating. my dealer is always within a phone call and whatever i need is handled correctly. I know times are tough but trying to save a few bucks on filters when you consider replacements costs of the pumps and injectors is a minimal cost considering the component. I have been to auto zone/oreilly inquiring also and there prices are really jacked up for a non stocking aftermarket item special order only. they might like to charge me $70. 00 bucks for a 6. 7 fuel filter . It aint happening



The money you pay for Texas sales tax pays for shipping to your door from genos witout the tax. And you get the newest parts.



my dad would say that you knew better and did it any way now pay the price for the aggravation and lost time lesson learned .



think i gave you the number to my dealership in La Grange and they would have UPS overnighted a new style filter to you the next day ?



Did you get the new style of fuel filter or the old ones ?



I have the ability to change the fuel filter on the side of the road as a spare is in my toolbox always. if needed

$1000 for a water pump install? Did they charge $2000/ hour because it takes about 15 minutes to change. . You're funny. . Washing with gas? and that helped?

I got all my filters from Freightliner in a pinch and will get the rest from a good friend at Cummins Western Canada. . If I were in the US, Genos would be on speed dial. . Having an extra filter under the seat just makes good sense.

Did you get some bad diesel fuel ? Seems they could have serviced fuel filter out when it was in the shop in corpus for 2 weeks all the money you spent if it was near the recomended service interval they could have comped that labor for "FREE" and thrown in the filter for cost .



OEM supply chain has no influence on the Auto parts store aftermarket filter inventory release timelines for 6. 7. i asked the filter companys about this a while back



auto parts stores have to have warehouse availability first,



they have the oil filters due to they interchange with the 5. 9 .



6. 7 Air filters are out there now too.



Wix/Purolator/ lists the filter so does Fram ,probally old design .

The 6. 7 has had it's share of issues but it is a powerful clean running machine. I think you should go buy a ford so you will know how good the 6. 7 is :-laf

Well said Running "AS " Flash all is well for now , Definently been a learning curve. hauling a big 5000 pd shredder around in tow haul in 5th gear ,exhaust brake is awesome feature. lack of power is not a problem .

Yes I have got the filter in, 2 of them, wixs, were $130 with the ups to the tiny store that went the extra mile for me, UPS wont deliver to my ranch, its behind about 12 cattleguards and locked gates, the water pump i had to get from out of state for the 6. 7 was $320 plus instal, the retowing the truck to and from the dealership and back home cost me hired hand labor and lost time and diesel, plus by this time it had prob been down 30 days total out of service and i had to place a ranch only truck on insurance and plate and inspect it because my 6. 7 had new parts to be had thru dodge. I still have not been able to break away and get the new flash, we are really trying to catch up with all the downtime from the breakdown no parts lemon, I have 3600 acres of ranch senderos I am trying to get mowed and motorgraded before deer season for our hunters, plus build a new deck and cleaning area for hogs and septic tank hook up and build a 30 foot tall towner for 2000 black poly water for the propane water heaters in 2 new bunkhouse!! I am so busy i dont have time to read the forum and complain!!!! Thanks to God my Case and Cat dealer is not run by dodge!!! I think the Taliban is running dodge parts and tech suport for the 6. 7!!! I love reading about people who think i am on the crack pipe, come down to south texas and experience the Dodge Dealer shortage! I own 6 1962 to 1971 dodge powerwagons from a w100 to a w500, its easier to get parts for these old antiques that new 6. 7 trucks from Dodge!!!!! Dont think i am alone, there are more not on here that are trading off these trucks since no dealerships to work on them and supply them with parts!!

Why wasnt the 6. 7 water pump and labor covered also you should have got a small cost reimbursment for roadside assistance towing program? also i also have towing on my personal insurance it does have a towing mileage cap but they still send me a check for 120. 00, thru state farm and Triple AAA.



Cummins engine covered by the 100,000 engine warranty ?just wondering? All them chores guess you have no problem sleeping at night. Follow up on your gripes and see if some people who do care that you are satified , can help get you some sort of reimbursment going ? Some or all of the water pump costs should have been absorbed by chrysler.



Find a different dealer aint worth the aggravation.



Sounds like like you need a weekend off and go fishin out in the bay for some specks and reds .



I m going to Port A this weekend for some R&R finally !!
