Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) No Start "click" when turning the key sometimes

Awww, there is the extra set of pictures I was looking for.

Your "old" stater looked pretty good ... nice and shiny. The selonoid cover is all rust, I hope it doesn't desintegrate in my hands when I try to remove it.

I'll have to give the bolts a good soaking of silicone before doing any work (I just hope I can get the starter cable and battery cable nuts off).

It looks shiny cause I'm not in the rust belt I guess. Good idea to hit the bolts with silicone but you'll have trouble seeing the upper bolt. I just had to feel for it. You need arms like an ape and fetus sized hands to reach it from the top :-laf .



Once you get it out it is easy to work on the solenoid and reinstalling it is much easier.
