2014 reg cab, 3500 6sp. I left my driveway 100 yards up the road my exhaust brake comes on by its self while I am going up hill. When my turbo actuator was acting up, I just had to stop and restart and it would reset its self. The actuator was replaced about a year ago. When I try to start it now, it sounds like the starter is engaging and turning the engine a small amount but not nearly enough to run. I pulled the code in the title.
TIA for any suggestions.

The code is P0008. Sorry I left out a zero in my haste.

I started the truck by jumping it after work and let it get to 165*. After shutting it off and restarting the voltage seems low. Looks like it is time for new batteries.

P0008 deals with crank and cam sensor issues.

I would start with good batteries and go from there.

I also presume this is a pickup, and not a C&C even thou that was selected?

Yes my truck is a SRW 3500 pickup.
Prior to it not starting there was a warning on the dash that the 4wd needed to be serviced, which went away once the truck was running for a few minutes.
When I bought the truck in 2018 the dealer said the batteries were very weak and they thought it might be from a short in the under the hood light. I believe they didn't have an idea and this reason seemed to be the most friendly. They replaced both batteries before I got it.
I replaced both batteries two days ago and it seems good. I cleared the P0008 code and it hasn't come back.

My question is are people replacing batteries every four years or is my truck/batteries outliers?

Modern batteries aren’t what they used to be and these trucks are hard on batteries when they sit. If my trucks sits more than a few days it gets plugged into a NoCo genius 5 trickle charger.
