I guess every coin has two sides.... a bright and shiney side and a dull and tarnished side. I've had a couple problems with my 17 Ram and both fixed in a week or less. The quality on MY truck is superb. Same on my 2019 Ram 1500.

So for those who have problems, I hope they get fixed. I see no signs of lower customer service or build quality over previous gens. Of course I've been dealing with the same dealer and the same people for 20 years.

So, that's my SHINEY side of the coin.

Cheers, Ron

Just a reminder here, fellows. Yes, the trucks are a Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/FCA product with a Cummins engine, BUT, the base issue here is what the EPA has done to our reliable and efficient engines.

AGREE! I guess being old I can recall the years ago when catalytic converters killed performance for YEARs and now, we have the HIGHEST HP numbers ever. AND, I don't even know of anyone DELETING a gasser anymore. It's similar to what we see with emissions on our trucks, EXCEPT we also have the highest HP/TQ numbers EVER.

Don't get me wrong, I have empathy for those who are having problems getting their trucks fixed, I just don't buy that Ram is losing it's customer base or not sure any significant number of owners are having problems.

So, again, good luck getting your trucks fixed and the one's who aren't having any problems, Happy Trails.

Yup that’s true, but it’s a level playing field among HD pickups. I’ve got first hand experience with the Ford quality/ parts availability/ price situation, and I see and hear on this forum what the FCA situation is regarding the same. I really hope FCA execs read this, because I want it turned around. Regarding parts and prices, Ford is cleaning FCA’s clock.

I got my truck back Saturday morning. No charge to me. New pcm and new turbo. Drove up to Shaver lake after I got it. Took it up hwy168, 7% grade for 10 miles to 5500' feet. Empty, it ran fine. I drove it harder than normal, ran great. For now.
Drove a power wagon today..... I like it.. Good throttle response from the HEMI.
Still on the fence on ditching this truck.

I agree, the EPA ruined the diesel.

Glad to hear you got it bac and it’s behaving so far. When our trucks work they really are awesome. When they don’t..... well you get the point. I really hope that someone is reading these posts. Someone that can change and effect the future of RAM.

decided to keep my truck for now. Well, the next 5 years anyway. Got a 5 year warranty on it. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone. Hopefully the next five years go smoothly.

Could you elaborate on your warranty situation? I'm in the market for a 2018+ and some of them are over 36k miles. It'd be nice to get some feedback on these types of scenarios from actual owners.

Thanks in advance and a belated Merry Christmas

So after changing out the FCA in an attempt to solve a surging idle issue when it’s cold out. While the truck is running better the surge is still there when in drive and sitting at a stop with engine brake on. But it’s way less noticeable than before...
just when I thought I could catch a beak last night while driving the whole dash went dead including the radio. The truck never stopped running the Speedometer kept showing my speed and the cruise never turned off. First thing I noticed was the radio going dead followed by the dash lamps. I checked to make sure I didn’t bump the key fob off, it was in the run position. Tried to turn the radio on nothing happened. For what seemed like 4 min everything was dead then slowly things came back on like I started the truck. I checked the fuses and tugged on the harness’s when I got home and nothing happened. I can’t find a loose connection anywhere. I hope this is not a sign of things to come component failing....
I really miss the 89 I use to own.....

Of the harnesses you checked....did you check the one under the dash...near the parking brake? Additionally.....sometimes it’s best to disconnect the connectors and make sure the pins are seated all the way in.

Hi folks...been awhile since I've posted on the forum. Still driving my 06 2500 with 140,000 on the clock. We bought a new fifth wheel and the wife said I should maybe start lookin for a new truck. Thinking I need a DRW 3500 but I'm hearing things about the new RAM's like this that scare me. My 06 has been a great truck...still on the original 48 RE knock on wood. My freind just bought a 2020 Jimmy with the 10 speed and is raving about it but then again that new 10 speed may be iffy. I love the Cummins inline 6. Kinda don't know what to do. Maybe keep my 06 for a couple more years and ram will get this stuff sorted?

The big unknown at this point is if Ram will have CP4 problems like Ford & GM has. Still too early to tell.
Why not look at a 17-18 with the Aisin?
