Hey guys, Anyone swaped their GetTrash with the NV4500 I know Bob B did but can not seem to get mail to him. After 45,000 miles the GetTrash is going south. Standard trans has the modified main shaft to reduce the 5th gear nut problem. Looking for people who HAVE made the switch. Please e-mail or post your input as to how its working for you. I know the Driveline needs shortened rebalanced. Shifter needs floorboard clearance cut. rear crossmember needs notched. Did you go with the 12 1/4 " clutch or stay with the 13 Sachs? Did you have to modify the bellhouseing for the 13 ? And what about speedo gearing TIA, Mike

I had mine done a couple of years ago. As far as I am concerned the difference is night and day. The driveline was neither shortened nor rebalanced. No crossmembers were cut. Only the carpet and floorboard for the shifter. Neither the clutch nor pilot bearing was touched. . all still good.
No problems for me since.
I have not incorporated Standard Transmission's change attacking the infamous 5th gear nut problem..... probably look into it when I have the $$$$.

I have a 92 4x4 also. . When you made the swap it's my understanding that all you need to do is replace the bellhousing and cut a hole approximately 4 inches behind the old shift lever. Is that correct??.

Did you have to replace the clutch slave cylinder and clutch fork?? What about the shift lever??

Thanks
Tim

Tim,
My original bellhousing is still there. The hole in the floorboard is about 4 inches back altho the new shift lever is closer to the dash in 1st, 3rd and 5th. In second gear the shift lever is a bit closer to my lap and 5th might be a stretch for someone with real short arms. The clutch fork and slave cylinder are the same.
From other transmission shops I was told of all the mods necessary so I was a bit worried when the shop that did it (in Oregon) said they were not necessary. Subsequently I have had another shop here locally look at it when they replace the rear seal in the transfer case. They said everything was fine and done well.
Messes up your carpet a bit, tho!

after several phone calls. I think I'll soon be making a trip to Quad 4X4 in Roberts, Mt. I spoke with Dan at length today. The difference between Quad & Standard is New VS. Rebuilt. The drive shaft will need cut and rebalanced on the 4x2's. I'll be staying with thje 13" clutch vs. the 12 1/4" that the other guys offer only. I run 3,500 miles a week and need a unit that will stand the abuse of this P-Pump motor and 36,000 GVW. The GetTrash lasted 45,000. Since I swaped it out. But still better than the 99 DORF ZF that I replaced 6 times !!! Mike
