They said it's viscosity is 75 -85. Is it available other than Chrysler dealer or Blumenthal's?

The oil from Chrysler is not the same. There is a higher viscosity, as well as a higher load bearing in the BMC oil.... We'd have to have Mr. Donnelly break down the complexities, but I've seen better service from it the last 7 years than anything else I've used in the NV series.... The Pennzoil is a decent oil, certainly better than ATF, but I don't believe it is as high a quality as the BMC, just from the service and wear I've seen running these ranch trucks.

What is BMC oil?
I did a rebuild about 90k miles ago and filled with 8 qts. amsoil and no problems but I keep thinking about changing the fluid. I ordered parts though blumenthals and would recommend them to anyone. Very, very helpful over the phone.

I talked with Blumenthal yesterday about the BMC oil. As the guy (polite and helpful, by the way) described it to me, it's their own house-brand oil. He didn't say who makes it for them nor what its rated viscosity is, and it retails for $19.95/qt through them. Not surprisingly, he highly recommended its use in the NV5600. He did say that while using this oil, the NV5600 should have a 15000 - 20000 mile oil change interval if worked hard.

Before I'll consider switching to it, I'd like to hear from anybody who has used this oil on a long-term basis as to what they've experienced with it.

As mentioned above, I use it in my ranch trucks, and anything that I install in my shop. I've been using it for 7 years, IIRC, and have noticed the transmissions seem to run cooler. I've got one of mine that formerly had a temp guage, and two of my customers. We've all seen 25-50* lower running temps when loaded. Mostly, I have NV4500s, but I do have 2 NV5600s in my fleet, plus those I've installed and service regularly. I put my customers on a 25k or 50k oil change interval, depending on what they do. The guys that tow quite a bit, or have a lot of power upgrades, get the lower mileage service. The oil may or not be changed, depending on it's color and content once recovered. On a fresh rebuild, there is always a nasty drain the first time. I believe the assembly grease comes out with the oil, and it's just plain nasty.... I'll change mine at 10k, if I can. The second may or may not be nasty, and then the third is usually pretty clean. So far, I've only had two Blumenthal trannys fail, and both were not the transmission's fault. The first NV4500 had the bearings melted to the input shaft..... Considering the truck made about 45psi boost, and was pulling a three horse trailer, I don't think that was the transmission's fault. The second NV4500 was mine, and that truck made even more boost, so when the main shaft bearing went, it was no surprise. As for NV 5600s, the only failures I've seen were from a local rebuilder..... and they wouldn't stand behind them, so I won't do business with them anymore, if I can avoid it.

Any possibility it could be this?

I used the Mopar fluid for about 230K, Standard did a rebuild around 230K which ONLY required new syncro's, all gears and bearings were reused as is. I switched to the Amsoil at the rebuild and now around 265K with 1st oil change just done which came out looking pretty good, I realize there may be some better Holy Grail of oil, but I think regularly servicing in the 30-50K range is probably the key to longevity. Standard did the lube upgrade at the rebuild which for one thing adds quite a bit more capacity ie: overfilled, however this wasn't until almost 1/4 million miles on the OEM fluid. I have switched the transfer case and the axles to Schaeffer's oils, they didn't have any oil they would recommend for the NV5600 and they do carry oil for use in the Eaton Fuller transmissions which would make me wonder of the Delvac product is actually suitable for the NV5600?
