Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) o-ringing and fire ringing heads

can someone explain to me the DIFFERENCE between these two and the purpose of each. also whether it is something that NEEDS to be done to my truck (see mods below)

I believe this to be correct. The fire ringed heads are cut with a wider groove than o-ringing. The o-rings fit in the groove and are bolted to the block. The fire ring comes attached to the head gasket and as you torque the head down the soft copper crushes into the groove cut into the head.
