Guys, I have been reading a post about changing over to the metric instrument panel, and saw what I think is a contradiction about the mileage. My odometer has faded to where it is difficult to read, and I am seeking info about replacing it or the entire cluster. Where is the mileage stored? I saw a reply that stated it was stored in the PCM, in which case my replacement odometer should read the correct mileage, but I also saw a reply that reported that it would read what was on the replacement, which would mean the mileage is stored in the odometer or instrument panel. Can I get clarification on this? It is for a 2000 year Dodge truck.
Does anyone know if the diesel cluster is unique, or will the gas cluster work? Also, how year specific are these clusters, such as a 99 gasser working on a 2000 diesel? Can the odometer be changed as an individual piece, or is it "married" to the cluster?
