disc brake acuator

When I had the pressure sensor failure, I called Maxbrake. The guy there incorrectly diagnosed the problem as a bad cable and sent me a new cable. He sent the wrong cable (unbeknownst to me) and I could not get the Maxbrake to work. Another call, and that guy knew his stuff better and diagnosed the bad sensor. I installed the new sensor and the Maxbrake still didn't work. Call yet again and they realized I had been sent the wrong cable. In the end, they gave me enough components to have two complete Maxbrake units. The guy who knew his stuff made it clear that the cables could not be interchanged. If my memory serves, one version of the controller shows an "A" behind the upper left output reading, the other version has a "P".

Anyroad, I was sorry to hear of Maxbrake's demise. They had a really good product.

When Isold my '01, I uninstalled my MB, but I haven't installed it on my '14 3500. I'm looking for some assistance on finding the "T" for the the '14. Anybody have a source or part number? thanks for any help.

Give the IBC a try before installing the MB. Snoking

I have been using it since new, just completed 5k trip from west wa to virginia in one month. It's very good, but still not a MB. I have the aftermarket wiring harness, just waiting on the T.

I worked out the wire details for the load cell Cat5 cable to the 3 pin connector at the load cell for a member. I am re-posting the info here. SNOKING

Ok, here you go! At the loadcell end we will call the three terminals in the plug Top, Left and Right based on the photo.

On the RJ45 end we will call the bottom pin 1 and the top one 8 based on the photo.

#ad

Top goes to 5
Left goes to 8
Right goes to 7

Good luck. Appears you can just use a standard Cat 5 patch cable and cut off the RJ45 under the hood and hook up the the three wire base on the info above. That way you do not need a crimp tool and the associated problems of doing it correctly. There are different ends for solid vs twisted strand wires etc. You will see that is what they did on the OEM cable.

Re: Max Brake

While I do not have any Max Brakes {I stopped being a vendor years ago & they have gone out of business} I was cleaning out some old inventory and found some Hydraulic Tees & harnesses that will fit various years and models. If any forum member is in need of one, please contact me by PM, e-mail [plugitright@gmail.com} or by phone at 941-416-0918 10 am to 10 pm EDT 7 days a week. I'll offer the tees or harnesses to forum members for $12.00 each including shipping. Moderator: while I am trying to help fellow TDR members, if

you feel this post is inappropriate, please delete it. I have not been on the forum hardly at all as we have been putting all of our efforts into getting well these last 3 years. We are making good strides. Unfortunately with the fire in our Carriage in November & having to look for a new home, I have had even even less time. Hopefully that will end at the end of March. Hugs to you all and hope to get back on the forum soon. Hugs, Di

Dutch and Di, we all wish you the best! SnoKing

Dutch and Di. So sorry to hear of the fire. The wife and I can relate to the health issues as I am thinking of changing my mailing address to the medical facilities. Any idea what caused the fire ?

Dave

Nice to hear from you!!!

Question, last time I hooked up my MB it said something about trailer connection and the hydraulic brake actuator was buzzing in the RV. Could not get it to stop. Unhooked and plugged in factory controller and all is well. Any suggestions???

Dutch & Di,

Best wishes with getting things settled and better.

Fellow MaxBrake users, I don't tow as much each year as many here do, but my rig with Dexter four piston disc brakes and the MaxBrake are a real team. If I try to explain the system to a non-believer I might hook up, just touch the pedal, actuator hums, push a bit harder hums louder, push good and hard and its really singing at the pump.

Does your controller know how hard you are pushing on the pedal?

I'm a MaxBrake fan.

The insulation wore off the wire at the water heater which caused it to spark. That started the fire in the under cabinet and to our good fortune when the fire hit the water line, it made a hole in the line which caused the 2nd water pump to kick on which flooded the basement. If it hadn't been for that, it would have burned to the ground. The fire Marshall said it was fair wear and tear and the vibrations had just caused the problem. Hugs, Di

Yes, the MB does know how hard you are pushing on the pedal. Hugs, Di

Hope all is well with you too. One thing I thought of is to check the emergency pull cable on your pin box to see if it has disengaged. That would cause buzzing. It seems to me there was something else that Dutch & I checked but I just can't bring it up in my memory bank right now. Hugs, Di

Forgot to add that the Trailer connection on the screen is just letting you know you are not hooked up to your trailer. Hugs, Di

I was hooked to trailer and actuator was buzzing. Swapped connectors under dash to factory and buzzing went away and brakes worked fine.
