Yes it worked well, my factory controller that is. MaxBrake who knows!
Sorry. I misunderstood and thought you were talking about getting your max brake working.
If you ever want to try to get your max brake working again, give me a call and we can try like a soft reset a hard reset and a couple of other things. I can't guarantee anything but I'm always willing to try. Hugs, Di

I appreciate that! Will give you a call sometime and give it a try.

Thanks!

hey Snoking,I can see the point of using thicker wire, but if electricity moves at the speed of light, how would making the length of wires to each brake the same length actually make much difference in the real world over what amounts to a few foot run of wire? isn't the speed of light something like 182,000 feet per second..

The display on my MaxBrake stopped working the other day while on vacation. The trailer was not hooked up at the time so if the controller was still working. While trying to sort it out I realized the display would function just fine when the sensor cable was disconnected. I found a little corrosion at the transducer end of the cable. Cleaned it up and a little dielectric grease and we are good to go for another 12 years I hope. Maybe this will help someone else.

Just a quick question. I have a customer whose light is fading in his max break and he's trying to find the eye. It's been so many years since I've had one that I've totally forgotten where to find that and I don't have any of my paperwork left. If you can help I'm sure my customer would appreciate it
I will also email him information from the response below. Thanks. Hugs. Di

Unfortunately I believe you are correct.
For the 6 plus years that Dutch and I were the Max Brake retailers I did have a few customers over the years that had the self test failed message. I had them return the controller to Max break but I do not know if they repaired it or replaced it. I never found out how they diagnosed it. I'm sorry I couldn't help. Di

Today I got the error message on my MB "SELF TEST FAIL” Does that mean my controller is toast?
Only thing I can suggest is to disconnect the plug and let sit for a minute and try plugging it back in. Remember its a computer. If that doesn't work then it's toast

Ive even tried a master reset with those customers but unfortunately it did not work. I wish I knew how Max Brake repaired it but I don't Di

Thanks for the help, I am truly saddened at the loss of my controller, I've looked around and can't find one anywhere so I guess it will be a P3. I guess I'll take it apart and look inside, maybe.......

One thing we always told our customers as a last resort is that if it's already broken you can't break it further. I would suggest carefully taking it apart and with a flashlight and a magnifying glass just look and see if you can find anything loose or broken. I don't know if it could be are broken solder or something like that but I don't see how you could hurt it. Di

I thought these new factory controllers work off line pressure like the maxbrake?

I am pretty sure that the new brake controllers work by interfacing with the ECM which is likely almost as good as brake line pressure. The DirecLink brake controller that JHenderson mentioned above definitely works by interfacing with the ecm

Maxbrake for Sale

I’m a 5 year user of my Maxbrake and have loved it but have recently purchased a tow vehicle that has a built in controller so I won’t be using it anymore. I pulled it out of my 2007 RAM 2500. Let me know if you are interested in it.

Can anybody help me with a calibration problem? I have suspected that my Maxbrake is not calibrated correctly. I know it is not recommended but I tried to recalibrate the unit. When I enter calibration mode I don’t have a “T” setting like it refers to in the manual, I have letters A-F. I guessed on the calibration and pressed the brakes to maximum pressure, when I try to get it to accept that calibration I get a message that says bad calibration. I was able to get it to accept a calibration, but the calibration was only reading a small percentage of my brake pressure. Any help is greatly appreciated! I’m basically driving with no trailer brakes.
