The install on a first gen is a breeze with the cobra pipe. We fabbed up stomps twins with the same one. Modified the lower joint over to a v-band style clamp. Get ahold of stomp and maybe he can forward some pics. Later... ... ... ... . Brad

Bill, when you get the charger on, drive the truck real nice out to my house. That way the turbo will be good and "broke in". Then take me for a full fuel ride, and after the initial WWWHHHHHOOOOOAAAA  I will promise to watch the boost gauge, pyrometer and report back to you while you are trying to keep the truck on the road. Then when the getrag starts making funny noises, I promise to help you fix it before you go home!!! :D Please, I wanna go for a ride.

Oh yeah, is it on yet???

How about now, done yet?? :-laf

Thats sweet Bill. Good luck with the results. More air = more power. I have a pyrometer problem now that I messed with my pump some more. I need air too.

I have never been able to load my truck enough to bollom out the EGT. Now it does it mearly by pressing on the thin peddle.

Don't press the pedal?

Yeah right! :D

It's bolted up. Just have to clock the c-housing for oil drain to work, get some 4" flex for the downpipe. More pics to follow. Funny the pdr hx35 compressor housing looks like the same size as this htb2. . The 16 looks huge compared to the 14 on the htb2.

Oh, and who said 5" won't fit past the t-case??????? I got a 2' piece of 5" flex between the frame and t-case. Looks good. Question, would it be a problem if the flex rested on or touched either the frame, t-case, or bottom of cab? Rattle real bad? Would it even be heard over the rest of the loud truck LOL? If it isn't a problem, I will have a 4" downpipe with 5" the rest of the way back to rear of tire.

B,

the comp. housing probably IS the same size. If you wanted something a bit bigger I have a unit off an NTC855 Cummins :) LOL

Good luck with the set-up. It'll be fun!!

Looks like fun Bll, Let us know how it spools for you. If it isnt too laggy one of those might find it's way under my hood eventually instead of twins. Good luck with it and don't have too much fun.

P. S. What combo were you running with the 337 hp

Piston lift pump, banjos, 3200 rpm spring, afc lever grind, afc pin grind, pump tweaks, 93 intercooler on non-intercooled engine, pdrhx35-16, bhaf filter, intake, 3" exhaust to 5" stacks, POD injectors, I think thats about it. That number was done on Dave Dunbar's dynojet at IRP 05, when it was about 95*F. Now if I ran on a Mustang dyno or on a cooler day, it could very well been higher, but not more than 400hp. Dave's dyno is the real deal, its not official until you run on Dave's dyno :p :-laf .

I think you have the right idea of going with a HTB2 or the like. Pass on the HX35. Don't be like me and have to spend your money twice. This is of course if you want a hot rod and don't plan to tow etc. If hot rod, then all you need to worry about is FUEL and AIR.

INSTALL: Bolted up, oil lines attached, wasn't a problem with clocking the housing, might end up having to pull the oil drain and doing some dremel work on it where the wastegate rod slightly touches or looks to. Fired it up, let it idle for about 10 minutes with no exhaust, only the cast elbow. . LOUD!! Got my stack box removed. Now just have to get some 4" flex and 5" exhaust pieces. Can't let Stomp and KTA be the only guys with 5" exhaust :D . A pic or two: First is htb2 showing firewall clearance. Second is hx35-16 3" dp firewall clearance, 3rd another view of htb2.

Just to correct a few things. I have been on 8 different dyno's this year. 3 dynojets 3 mustangs 1 hybrid mustang and a dyno dynamics. For the most part there is very little difference. Like maybe 10hp. Bill you might have been lower on a mustang who knows????? :p :-laf Every single one of them is different. I know that you are not being totally serious about "its not official until you run on Dave's dyno :p :-laf" hence the :p :-laf faces, but some people might actually believe that.

Someday I would like to make it back to an event like IRP or maybe another one where Dave has his dyno. That way some of you guys might respect the hard work and the money that I have spent to get where I am at today.

I still run 4" it seams to work just fine. I do however have a very interesting down pipe its 5" right off the turbo then there is a flared out 4" pipe welded to the 5" then 4" all the way back. It was a very tight fit between the tubo and the firewall. I wish I had a picture of it when it was out.

Bill get off the computer and get to working on your pickup so you can go flog the crap out of that turbo and give us some details. ( I like the pictures keep them coming)
