First oil analysis, Blackstone charges $18. 50 plus extra for a TBN. I'm not interested in extended drain intervals (currently do them ay 4500) do I need a TBN? Where else can I ge it done? TIA

Get the TDR discount on your samples ... . you'll save a $1. 50 ... . you really don;t need the TBN # ... . only if you are curiuos ...

I'm not sure about Texas, but I called the Pennzoil plant in Greensburg, Pa awhile ago. The guy was real nice and told me the oil sample would cost $9. 00. I said wow that is cheap. He said well we eat some of the cost for our customers. I told him I use Rotella and he said sorry this is only for Pennzoil. I looked in the phone book and found another distributor (Citgo). I ended up buy the bottle for $12. 00 and the postage cost $1. 50. If you look in the yellow pages the oil distributors are listed. Call them and ask for their oil sample kit. Hope htis helps.

Happy trails to ya.

We have the oil test kits for ANA labs for $12. 50 and no extra charges. Also as long as you are considering extended oil change intervals, you might want to consider a Premo oil bypass filter system which virtually eliminates oil changes, extends the service life of your engine. The Premo units are a 3 micron absolute filter with an evaporative head which removes liquid contaminates. You can get more information by contacting me or refering to the article in issue#35 of the TDR.

Deezul, do they care if I am not using Amsoil? Is this who you use? TIA

Dave, I'm not looking for a bypass system at this time but I really dont know much about them either. I went to your site and couldnt find oil sample listed. It's probably right there but I need a 12 year old to find it, computers and me barely get along anyway.

Cobra, I couldnt find anything listed except distributors here.

Texas D,

That is what I found listyed. The distributors. In the yellow pages they have a list for Citgo, Pennzoil, Moble, and Shell.

Some had 800 numbers and some didn't.

Klenger,

I think I know what you are saying. I could just say it is Pennzoil and they wouldn't know. On the paper work they ask for brand and type of oil. I wouldn't lie to them because it is my understanding that the different brands have different additive pakages. The guy that I got the kit from said if I wanted to know how the oil was breaking down, I should get two kits. Send in a sample of new oil first. After receiving the results, send in the other one from the truck.

Sorry, you couldn't find the kits on our site. I don't have any pictures of them and maybe I should. They are listed on the bottom of our price list page http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/price_list as oil sample kits. They are a prepaid mailer bottle with a sample bottle and record card inside. All postage is prepaid for the sample going to the lab and the analysis being sent back to you. Mention you are a TDR member and we will reduce the price 10%. Order 6 sample kits or more and I will pay the UPS to send them to you.

The cards in the sample kits do ask what grade and type of oil you are using and you should always fill that out. It does not matter what brand of oil it is for the analysis.

If I can answer any questions about oil analysis, bypass and filter ratings please contact me. (509) 547-7029

Yes thats who I used last time. I am trying some new places because Blackstone Labs who I like real well has gotten too expensive. I dont think it matters who's oil you use, try it and see if they dont like they will tell you but they make money doing this so it prolly doesnt matter.
