"Gary,
You sit there and cry about this or that and try to come with things that MIGHT happen, but the simple truth is, Amsoil has been doing this for 28 years, and has not had a failure yet following their instructions, or a warranty voided. "
SORRY you feel that way Gene, I really am!
All I have attempted here is to post MY OWN concerns and points of view concerning things like various aftermarket products, oil included... Sometimes I'm able to apply first-hand info on some I have used, sometimes info based on stuff gleaned from LOTS of exposure to mechanical subjects across a wide variety of subjects. Old age helps accumulate quite a bit of info for those eager to learn (not a helluva lot ELSE to say for old age tho'!)

Fortunately, for the most part, I manage to maintain the ability to exchange/express my views without need of insult or abuse to "support" my view - tho' some of the more ummm, "enthusiastic" opponents in these exchanges aren't quite as restrained...
In the case of synthetics - Amsoil in particular - these current threads have helped present enough documentation that I am FULLY convinced Amsoil is the BEST synthetic currently available for those willing due to THEIR specific wants or needs to use a synthetic. Without these discussions, that wouldn't have happened!
BUT, I have ALSO determined that it's just NOT currently practical or cost effective for ME in MY truck in view of its use and expected lifespan (both the trucks AND mine!), tho' I *do* use it in other of my cars and engines.
I've ALSO determined over time, that enduring the possibility of warranty comflicts over rather trivial issues provided by MANY aftermarket products just ISN'T WORTH IT!
AFTER the warranty period, if you just MUST use some of that stuff, have at it - but MY experience has been that PRECIOUS FEW people are successful in challenging warranty refusals - and end up with little more than LOTS of frustration and loss of transportation while appeals are in progress.
And yes, *I* have "been there - done that" too, so NOT just whistling in the wind!
If my viewpoint and expressed opinions cause you distress, sorry - that's not my goal or intention... But *my* viewpoint IS just as valid as those of any others posted here - it's up to the onlookers to decide for themselves, based on info provided.
Cheers...
