Maintaining battery life

Looking over some of my purchase papers, I saw where the finance guy stuck in a MOPAR MAINT/24 for the tune of $375. I do remember him mentioning free maintenance for 24 months. Okay, me bad for not being more careful reading the papers. So does anyone know what I get for this (not free) service. I changed the oil at 4,500 miles using Valvoline 5W-40 Premium Blue Extreme Synthetic and a Fleetguard LF16035 Oil Filter. Mainly to get whatever oil was there from factory (breakin?) out. I'm not convinced I would want some young part timer at my local dealer doing this service. I think I would end up with everything below the filter covered in black diesel oil. Plus, I want to start sending a sample to Blackstone. I really want to take the best care possible of this new truck. I'll call local dealer tomorrow to see what this service I inadvertently paid for gets me.

Just call and tell them you want a refund on the "service contract" and see what they say. Then just do as you planned with your oil changes and testing.

Congratulations on your new truck. Very good choice. I would recommend taking care of all maintenance yourself to have the best care and long term reliability. The "finance guy" most likely did say FREE and one can only imagine the pile of paperwork he was shoving in front of you during the purchase process. Since you are paying for this FREE service.....how about suggesting the dealership give you #375.00 credit to use anyway you choose in the parts department for filters & oil etc. instead of the service at the stealership?? That is , if you find the oil and filters at the dealership to be satisfactory?? Just a thought....
Hope you enjoy your new truck for many years and countless miles.

I also agree that you should service yourself. Just keep your records up to date and on file. Except for the transmission service, I've changed virtually every fluid and filter myself, including rotating the tires.

Years later I was looking at my papers from buying a new 81 VW PU. It said undercoating $350 or some number. I went to the Dealer and asked for my money back. They agreed I should not have been charged and gave me a credit for parts or service. They had purchased the Dealership from the ones I had bought the truck from. They said they were doing it for good will.

If it doesn't include fuel filters, I would ask for my money back.

If it includes fuel filters, it sounds like a good deal.

Unless Ram is still providing free oil changes (first 4 changes and filters) for up to 2 years.

Then they might be charging for something that Ram is already covering. But they may have decided to end that new buyer free service.

My dealer said they were giving me my first 3 oil changes within 12 months. Since I don't drive that many miles, I will just get the first 2 oil changes done free (6 month, and one year). Found out after I rotated my own tires, that they included that, too.

Wondering how it was written since the Oci is 15k

Your 2 year (4 oil changes) maintenance deal most likely will get you a conventional oil like Rotella T and a cellulose filter such as a Mopar MO-285. This is what I received from my dealer for my one free oil change. Nothing bad about either, but not in the same league as your Valvoline synthetic oil and Fleetguard synthetic media stratopore filter that you could do yourself for the same cost as the dealership deal.

Well, as it turns out, I could have gotten a refund the first 60 days. So I'm paid maintenance. I'm going to go in for the U11 recall when they get the parts so I might consider having it done while there. Still not sure how I'll deal with the mess they might make and the different standard of oil and filter.
