Gonna change my oil for the first time after installing one of the EZ change plugs

EZ CHANGE DRAIN PLUG - 22MM ('94-'01 DODGE)-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage

from Genos (its the one that has the seperate tube that you use).

My question is with the way the the drain plug hole is in the pan (threaded aprox 1 inch further up into the pan, like a bung) and the way the quick change plug works, how much old oil is gonna be left in the pan after draining with the tube??

I'm thinking about draining with the tube and then removing the plug (which completely goes against the original intent of installing it, LOL).

Worried about 1) overfilling the oil 2) Leaving too much old 40k mile oil in the pan (my guess is at the depth of the bung area and size of the pan it could be as much as 2qts?) 3) busting the plug/rounding the very shallow sholders on hex head.

Anyone have this EZ Change system (the one with the tube) and can give any suggestions/advice?

I had originally thought about drilling the plug threads like some guys do with the Fumoto finger touch drain plug but the way the EZhange plug is set up it doesnt look like it would work.

Thanks in advance,

J-

I have been using that set up for 10 yrs. on 2 3500s, over 1,000,000 mi. combined with no problems. It doesn`t leave enough oil to show a diff. on the dipstick. You will love the way it works.

I use the same plug and have really enjoyed how much cleaner the job is, however, my experience is that it leaves about a quart in the pan. So when refilling I just add a quart less than I had been before I had the EZ plug. After I've refilled, the oil looks just as clean as before I had the EZ plug, so I haven't even thought twice about that small amount of oil staying behind.

thanks for the info guys, changed the oil yesterday and it was easy sleezy japanesy! LOL. If there was any oil left in the pan it was not enough to make a difference upon refilling.

Thanks
