On a side note, fuel filters appear to be going through the roof. On the website I linked above the FS53000 is priced at $52 each and go down from there the more you purchase, but I have seen other websites selling them for over $70 each

comrade JR - speaking of " through the roof..... " bought any lumber recently? i just paid 68 bucks a sheet for 3/4 cdx plywood. the last plywood i bought was 22 bucks several months ago. everything is going up. metals up 30%. shingles 20% up in 2 weeks. anyways, just sharing some misery. cheers ! ( i am in the construction trades )

Yep... 2X4X8' are now over 6$, they were $2.50 last March.... I have an addition on hold because of this BS. My only hope is that things will stabilize this fall. Side note, in preparation, I pulled the trigger on 2 skids of OSB last year (134 sheets) when the price was low ($11/sheet) and it is now selling for $38/sheet!! I am considering selling it if it hits $40.

I don't have any insider information but I would not expect either Donaldson or Fleetguard to outsource a filter when they have the resources available to them that they do.

Remember the FS53000 is the OEM filter only because it came bolted to the ISB. Ram chose the RACOR, likely because RACOR was the low cost bidder.

Fleetguard has been making the under bed water separator filter for a while now, and wix has been too.
Yes, racor makes the MOPAR oem unit, but the way I read the statement was that they were the only ones making the under bed separator filter.

So the Air Dog and Fass lift pumps have fallen out of favor? I've been running the Air Dog II 150 for many years on my 3rd Gen, still on the original pump. No injector issues yet! I run the Donaldson filters on it from Crossfilters most of the time.

It's been
Interesting.....didn’t know Donaldson had an offering for the rear unit.

Yes sir, I've been mostly running it in the primary spot since I bought my truck from the website I linked earlier for the oil filter.
I order my oil filters for my truck, mower, and tractor along with hydraulic, air and fuel (all Donaldson, except the FS53000) from Cross Filters. Their prices are generally pretty competitive with everyone else's and best of all it's a one stop shop.

Anyone know if the Donaldson is made by Donaldson or RACOR? Sure LOOKS the same. You would think RACOR has rights to the design for some time.

Understood. If that filter is unique to RAM seems unlikely all these other filter manufacturers would tool up to make this unique item.
Why???
Millions of these filters sold every year, lots of money to be made producing and selling them.
As to them all looking so similar, they are built to the spec set forth by FCA, like most every other aftermarket replacement part made.

I doubt the RACOR filter housing is unique to Ram trucks. It's universal enough it is likely on other trucks/equipment too.

Donaldson and Fleetguard is in the buisiness of making filters. I would find it odd that someone as reputable as them would outsource anything, particularly to a smaller company.

I bet RACOR doesn't make this one....or any other Chinese knock offs for that matter....but it sho nuff looks the same :D
