Why???
Millions of these filters sold every year, lots of money to be made producing and selling them.
As to them all looking so similar, they are built to the spec set forth by FCA, like most every other aftermarket replacement part made.

I honestly have to ask do you actually read what i type? I said "If that filter is unique to RAM".

Millions?, that would mean at least two million sold per year. If one RAM uses one per year average is that number possible??? Don't think so.

Maybe you could have answered my question if this filter is unique to RAM.

Sure CHICOM can produce a "Similar" unit and get away with it.

So if someone can do more than speculate if this filter is used on more than one application I would appreciate it.

Also do any of the other US Manufacturers build their own?

I used Baldwin on my 06. I still have a couple left over. I cant use these on the 19 6.7? So far I've let the dealer change the oil.

Well......according to Parker / RACOR...... they were the original supplier to RAM for the rear water separator filter, indicating to me that it is indeed unique to RAM for 2013 through 2018 MY 2500/3500/4500/5500 trucks.

That is also 7 year old information...not arguing at all, just saying.

Thank you GS!!! One would think it has a Patent.

Patents last 20 years. I really don't understand where you are going with this?
There are alot of options out there for these filters. The aftermarket has been supplying replacement parts since vehicles became mainstream. This single filter is no exception.

Which flows perfectly due to the fact that the dual filter setup was introduced in the 2013 MY, which would translate that the above link I posted was published around 2014.

Seems about right to me!

Sure does, but it also does not imply that 7 years later it is/was still exclusive to Ram trucks. If RACOR was approached by another manufacturer with similar needs, why wouldn't they maximize their ROI on what they have already developed?

A perfect example is the air filter housing on my Scag mower. It is a Donaldosn 2 stage filter. That exact same housing is also on a small 4" Godwin pump at work. Same exact primary and secondary filter. Companies like Donaldson and RACOR make filtration systems for literally almost everything. It would be wasteful to develop a system for each piece of equipment starting from scratch when they could just go to the parts bin. I don't know if this is the case with the Ram set up but it is a very generic universal housing. Line in, line out. It may have originally been developed for Ram but I would be surprised if several years later it hasn't been integrated somewhere else.

What I am getting at is there proof that let's say Donaldson, NAPA aren't made by RACOR or allowed by RACOR to reproduce their filter?

I looked high and hard for a replacement hydraulic pump for my Mobile Suites. It's made by Parker who owns RACOR. I even called Parker and they said Lippert Contracted with them for this pump and the ONLY way you can get it is from Lippert.

Was curious minus the CHICOM junk if RACOR has their finger in all the domestic production in some way or form.

Hi Guys will be doing first oil change on the beast . Should I be using the cummins stratapore or mopar? Who makes the mopar filters? Thanks. Hope this doesn't stir up a hornets nest.
Mopar ,Fleetguard or Donaldson all good filters. What you really need is the filter cap off tool Amazon or Genos. After you spin the filter off you have to turn the filter sideways for removal. This $15 plug screws into the filter and you can pull it out no mess. Its a must have , I've used plastic bags what a mess get one these tools you won't regret it.

You "need" that cap tool and it's a "must have"? Really???
I've never had one or used one and I never spill a drop of oil removing a full oil filter.
I don't do anything but unscrew the filter and lift it out, easy-peasy, no mess at all.

did you forget to mention removing the air intake first?

Thought I'd run a cross reference search on the PFF54529 on Baldwin's website. They're very good about listing all applications on their filters. This is what I found. No other application listed except the '13 Ram.

@smittyd174, I bought one of those screw in caps right after I got my truck. What a help!! Before I relocated my filters to under the truck, made changing the filter from wheel well, easy and mess free! Used for both the off and on with prefill. Yes, it can be done without by removing the air intake. Was easier than leaning over the engine bay and time to remove the air intake. JM2C. Anyway that you choose to do is great because your taking care of your truck! Find what works the best for you and continue. By doing the maintenance of our trucks, we find the issue that when addressed can prevent most other bigger issues. Not always true but we know are trucks and as most have stated (including myself), keep great logs of all work done! Enjoy these trucks!

That reminds me......the "Team Through the Fender" T-shirts will be available soon.

However, the silk screener has refused to print the "Team from Above" t-shirts as it goes against their belief system.

No, I didn't forget.

OK, I believe you are a from the top kind off guy??? If so please tell how you remove the filter by not doing "anything" but unscrewing and "lifting" out.
