Who sells Banks Brake Cheapest???

There have been several inquiries about the Oil Guard installation with the new Oil Cap return line. I just installed this about a month ago and have been very pleased with the product. Since the website does not show a CTD installation with the Oil Cap return, here it is.

I wanted an installation with no drilling and easily removed (warranty issues). Buy bolting to the crossmember, using common hardware (#8 grade bolts and a plate from Home Depot electrical dept) I was able to complete the process in a couple of hours.

The oil lines I used are the upgrade ($30) rather than the stock slip-on hoses. I like the aircraft style fittings for security and durability. Terry

Nice install.

Very good choice for the hoses as I bought the slip on type and had 2 of them blow off

That was twice that system ran my motor out of oil :-{}

I still have it on the truck but it isnt hooked up as of now. I will be hooking it back up when I get the chance to make some Steel braided lines for it.

I think i would get something to keep the heat from the exhaust manifold off of the oil lines... ... Looks like they're prety close there.

Hopefully just a helpful suggestion...

Good luck

Curtis

I hope you put a shield in front of the filter, it would be the pits to have something on the road poke a hole in the filter! SNOKING

Where did you find the Oil Guard setup? Do they make it for a 02?

I have wanted to get oil pressure and temperature off my 02, but you need flowing oil to get temp and I did not want to get into the turbo housing oil line.

It is a very heavy duty housing, but that certainly sounds like good advice. Thanks, T

Here is the site - http://www.oilguard.com/. Yes they make a kit for the O2 CTD.

On the 04. 5 there are two plugs on the top of the stock filter housing. In my pics you can clearly see the outboard one that I used for oil pressure line to the bypass filter. Look closely and you will see the inboard plug just above the black hose that covers most of the view. That goes to the turbo and should not be tapped. Don't know if this is the same on the 02. Hope this helps. Terry

Good point, and I considered that when I set this up. They are really not as close as they seem in the photos, and so far they do not appear to be close enough to suffer heat damage. Test will be a hot summer tow! Thanks for the tip. Terry

Seems you tow some. I'm sure you've threads on here about people buying infared thermometers, you may want to check into one of those. You can check the tires on your trailer, and reason for bringing this up is check how hot the hoses are. I would really hate to see one of those lines blister, and rupture from heat.

Cheap insurance would be to get some header wrap, and wrap the oil lines with that, and not worry at all.

Just wanna shed a little light on the subject ;)
