I just found 2 qts of Shell Rotella T 15W-40 rated API Service CG-4/SJ. I was wondering if it could be mixed with Chevron CI-4+? Anybody have thoughts on this? Thanks. I don't know how old it is , but it is old.
Most of the oils for these trucks are pretty much the same. I would not worry about mixing. Any premium diesel rated oil should be fine. This is NOT rocket science.
I would say not to use it if they had been opened already. If the seal is still intact I don't see a problem. Of course if it is only two quarts I would just keep them aside for emergencies or use it as bar oil in my chain saw.
