Just installed an Isspro EV series 0-80 psi Electric Gauge, plumbed into the 1/8" plug on top of the oil filter housing.

Cold, at idle 60psi, tap the throttle and it pegs the 80 Pound gauge. When warm, after an 80 mph freeway cruise, idle @20psi, dips to @10 when letting out the clutch with no throttle. Still pegs 80 psi gauge @ 2000 rpm.

Gauge seems to be very responsive, and "spikes" with just a tap on the throttle. I have rechecked all my wiring and everything is good there.

What's up with that, doesn't seem right. Am running Amsoil filter and oil, less than 1000 miles on change. Is there a bypass valve somewhere that may be stuck shut, or possibly leaking when warm? Is 80+ psi at rpm ok? If so, guess I'll call Isspro and see if they'll let me trade it for a 100 psi gauge :eeek:

What do you guys think?

I think you have a bad sender or bad connection. Once the engine is warm the oil pump bypasses at 65-70psi so you shouldn't see more than that with warm oil.

Hutchew, I had a 150psi mechanical gauge on my 24V for awhile. When cold it often went to 90-100psi so that explains why your gauge pegs. You should replace it with a 100 better yet a 150.

I don't recall what it was cruising at 2000rpm but seems like it was around 50psi, pegging 80 sounds a bit high. At idle it was around 25.

You may want to hook a mechanical gauge to it and compare to the electrical gauge. I read mine off one of the gallery plugs where it feeds the camshaft, on the driver's side of the engine in the middle, about halfway beetween cylinder head and oil pan rim.

Pressure reading seem to high (80 psi).

Mark is right your pressure regulating valve mite be bad.

Regulating valve should open up when oil hits 65 psi dumping some oil back into oil pan. this naturally would decrease pressure.

So guage or valve could be problem.
