I have a Viair set-up. I used a 2. 5 gal air tank under the right fender forward of the rear wheel. The compressor is mounted just the oposite on the left side.

Do you still have room to get the Oil Filter out? Did you run into any other maintainance issues after installing (such as you can not reach anything)?

Were there any tolerance issues with the Turbo? I have a larger than stock turbo, and would like to build some confidence that it will all fit. Also, how much higher does this stick (thinking about hood clearance).

Also, where did you put the Air Tank?

I also used a Viair compressor (model 480C) and mounted right on the outside of the frame rail (pass side). I then stuck a 5 gal tank on the pass side inside the fenderwheel just in front of the rear wheel (between the frame rail and the box, tucked up high).



Works excellent...
 
I have OnBoard Air with a 5 gallon tank in front of the passenger rear well under the bed. Works great. It does make getting the oil filter out harder but not too bad. Shouldn't interfer with the turbo at all. Only thing I don't like is the oil that gets past the pump. The filter can fill up fairly quick. I would advise to get the return kit from the filter to the pump.

I've had my Kilby on for a year now... I'll post some pics when I get home this evening. No clearance issues with the hood... but getting that oil filter out is a PITA!! Luckily I converted to a remote bypass system, so it's no longer an issue. I had to grind off a little on the alternator to get it to fit on the new mouting bracket, but that was pretty easily done. Another thing you have to be aware of is there is a clearance issue with the swivel fittings that go on the compressor. When you mount the compressor, the fitting on the bottom will only point back toward the firewall... on my truck, this interfered with the inlet hose for the turbo... so I had to get a custom fitting brazed up to work. Again, I'll post some pics this evening to give you a better idea of what my setup (both compressor and tanks) looks like.

I haven't changed the oil filter since I put the Kilby in, so I can't comment on that. As far as other maintenance issues, changing out the alternator is going to be nasty.



The compressor is at the front of the engine and is nowhere near the turbo, so that isn't an issue. The hood clearance is tight, but it fits. The hose fittings on top of the compressor have to point towards the back of the truck. The hood won't close if you rotate them forward.



The biggest fit problem I had was with my aftermarket air intake. I had a Volant CAI, which worked really well, but it wouldn't go back in once I put the compressor on. I had to switch to the AFE Stage 1 and Cool Hose that you see in my gallery.



The other hiccup I had was switching out the alternator pulleys. In my 06, it was attached with a spline nut that requires a special tool to take off. There's a post of mine on the Kilby forum that addresses the issue. If you have a spline nut on yours make sure you have a plan for getting it off before you take your truck out of service.



I have a 5 gallon air tank mounted on the inside of the driver side frame rail. It sits roughly under the driver. I had custom brackets made for $15 to stand the tank off from the fuel lines, and I had my local Midas shop weld them to the frame. Apparently they don't have a problem welding around diesel fuel lines. There's a picture in my gallery that will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. If you go with that location, you could probably fit a much longer tank than I did. I was actually planning on putting mine on the outside frame rail near the passenger side rear wheel, but I mismeasured and we had to improvise.
