I flew up to Dave Smith in Oct of 2018 to buy my truck. I could only find the exact truck I wanted at their dealership. In fact they had two of them. No other dealer from the Mississippi west had one that I could find.

My two complaints about Dave Smith:

1. The amount of time to complete the purchase: arrived at 7:30 am and left the lot close to 4 pm! Had a 18 hour drive home.
2. The closing salesman for the warranty was less than happy that I turned down his warranty. In fact he appeared to be very pissed!

I'm going to suggest something else: build the truck you want on Ram website, save pdf file, email it to several deal dealers and request their best price.

I'm in a large city that has several fleet sales dealers. Hundreds of Tradesmans. You can buy on the fleet side too... I bought my 5500 on the fleet side.

And I'll repeat, Ebay is easy peasie. Doesn't cost anything too look.

Cheers, Ron

Thanks that's a great idea (building the truck and then emailing it out for bid).

I'm quite a ways out of the city, and there are literally no new vehicle dealers (of any type) in the county. Some used dealers but most of their trucks have been "rode hard and put up wet." Did visit a Ram dealer next county over, but they had only the 2019s and seemed uninterested in trying to bring one in from elsewhere. I may try another dealer in a different county this weekend if time permits.

I did check eBay and there were a few which interested me, but what I'm seeing now is that there are like-new (less than 100 miles) trucks available from some of the online dealerships at the same price point or below, and they would convey with the full warranty. Thus the original question concerning the two specific dealers with vehicles that I was considering.

Timd32: Anywhere in the lower 48 (USA). I'm more concerned with the specs and not the location. I can have it shipped or take a road trip if the truck and the price is right.

Boaring1961: Good to know, thanks. But I've pretty much eliminated Smith based on their inventory not matching my needs.

Not trying to push Dave Smith on you, but I wouldn't just rely on their website. Not sure if you've called them, but If I were you, I'd give them a call and tell them what you're looking for. They may surprise you. My experience was pretty good with and I ended up making the deal with them over the phone.

You might also check with your local Car Max dealership and get a appraisal price on them buying your old truck.
We took my wife's 2002 Toyota Highlander with 175K on it and got $6000.00 for it in 2013, then we found her
next car and ordered it.

I was in contact with kernersville ram for a while they have ALOT of trucks. I also considered Dave Smith or Dennis Dillon in my searches.

My winning ticket was this app called “CarGurus” they search all around you for used/new vehicles at all types of dealerships and will even tell you if it’s a good deal or not, which I’m sure you could figure out yourself anyway.

Read an article that FCA has dumped a lot of inventory on the dealers. I think you can get some heavy discounts right now.

I have bought two trucks from Indy Truck Champion. I ordered both of them. Both times I flew to Indianapolis and Ken picked me up at the airport. Both times I was at the dealer less than an hour.

I have bought 3 vehicles from Dave S. 2 trucks and one van. My last truck the finance guy was not happy that I brought my own finance through my credit union and was not nice about it either. I contacted Dave S management and the guy was gone.

DS is NOT the place it used to be!

sales lady convinced my Dad they would take his truck and PT in a straight across trade for a 19 Grand Cherokee.

then she passed my Dad to sales Mgr and the POS said he wanted some insane amount of cash. Then he proceeded to say he can’t sell 2wd DRW’s.

window stickers for each rig were sent with pics.

We even had a rental trailer on hold to haul the PT.

Same Cherokee at local dealer Dad gave 4K to close the deal. That was a great deal!
