It sure sounds like a lot of acreage, in Oregon, is going up in smoke. How are you guys situated out there, and are any of the fires a threat to Power Wagon's place?
Doc why do you ask these questions when you answer them. You sound like my wife. She asks me something and don't give me time to think of a answer. I know I am slow but
lschultz. . you guys were all sleeping in and not responding, so I dug around on the web and figured it out for myself. I haven't heard anything from the Oregonians yet about how they are doing and whether Power Wagon's place is getting smoked out. Still waiting for a few answers here
By the looks of this map PW is in the clear. His place is just south of the west end of the straight line section of the WA/OR boarder. But all it takes is a little shift in the wind, fires are far from him.
Powerwagon is OK where he lives - I am familiar with the area. I was in The Dalles Or near the Sheldon Ridge and White River wildfires this afternoon and there was a light haze to the south. I could see water choppers dipping in the Columbia and the wind in The Dalles was westerly with gusts at about 35mph. Usually that type of wind does not blow that hard a half mile or so away from the Gorge.
The smoke has been pretty thick here in Klamath Falls every evening over the last week. Visibility gets really bad, less than a mile. I made a big loop up to Silver Lake and down through Lakeview last week to see the fires that were burining over there I was really suprised at the size of the Winter Ridge/Silver Lake fire. Also I just heard on the local news 3 firefighers were killed in a roll-over accident just outta town, its a shame.
I am fine in Bend, with the Cache Mountain fire being the nearest. Lots of smoke. I guess that took out 2-4 houses Sunday afteernoon. Haven't talked with Tom Lippert in a while, but he is fairly close to this fire, maybe 5 miles I would guess??? Tlippy are you OK?
Haven't look at any maps yet but I was going to ask about Bend. Never been there but my wife went there for a class for a week. She liked it there. Took a lot of nice pictures.
Well I woke up today and my truck was coverd in ash. I just helped a lady move a bunch of stuff out of her house today in Selma OR as they are expecting it to burn down in 24-48 hrs. All this smoke cant be good for you can it?
Shelby let me know if you get a hold of Tom. He should be ok he is to the northeast of the fire in Sisters but not real far. My friend lives in Tollgate, which is just up the road from Black Butte fire. If it gets much closer to his home he has asked me to come up with my truck.
