Anyone have a source for original wheels? Or better yet, anyone replace their original wheels and have been storing them ever since?

I purchased a 95 Dodge 2500 TD Extended Cab a couple of months ago. The previous owner had a blow out that did considerable damage to the right rear due to tire cord slapping.

I asked if he swapped out that wheel - he said No. Between 45-50mph the rear end has a considerable wobble that you feel in the seat of your pants.

I'm guessing that wheel got bent during the blow out. So before I have the balance checked, I thought it would be proactive of me to find a replacement wheel and have it ready to swap out while at the tire center.

Enjoy,

Honestly your best bet would be to scour craigslist. I find factory takeoffs on there all the time, and usually very cheap too. You can also find singles on ebay for a little bit extra due to shipping. Definitely cheaper than buying new.

Better than that is to find a set of 17" third gen wheels, I put them on my 95 and the handling improved dramatically over the stock 16" wheels.

Michael - I upgraded to a set of 3rd Gen wheels on my 97 about 5 years ago, but I only found 4 and I wanted a matching spare. After discussing tire choices at my local Discount Tire I mentioned I wanted a matching spare rim... maybe it was the pending $1400 tire sale but the rep I spoke to went out of his way to find a perfect match and have it shipped to his store.

My point is that Discount Tire receives a ton of "take offs" when people buy new wheels and they wisely keep (at least some of) these around to help people in your situation; it's worth a phone call. I only paid $50 for the 3rd Gen aluminum wheel, yours should be less. Since you're also in Phoenix, there should be a store close by.

Disclaimer - I'm not affiliated with Discount Tire in any way, just a happy customer for more than 20 years.

Michael,

Here's a photo for reference of how they look. I took the wheels off my Dad's 06' to put on my old 99'. I think they look great and it's a straight swap. And yes definitely Americas Tire is a good resource for tires and wheels. I'm very lucky to have an awesome crew at the one by the house. Great honest guys and they take a huge chunk of my pay ever year:-laf
