Honda atv big Anchorage alaska dealer wouldn’t work on my 2003 Honda Foreman 450 es nothing older that ten years. Some places for trucks draw the line at 20 years. It’s a throw away buy new world now

I think it's more of, can't plug in the computer to tell us what's wrong! Not many real "techs" left out there! They want to just throw parts at it till they find what fixes the problem. If no code to tell them want and where, they're lost, even with manuals that walk you through the diagnostic steps to take to confirm issue. That's were a good independent repair shop or tech is "priceless"!

Yeah, I had a 2002 Recon, could not get hard parts for it anymore (direct from the OEM)... sold it before something major went wrong, I can understand when a full line dealer choses not to do repairs on something the they cannot source OEM parts for any longer (unless going aftermarket) but I would think / hope the communication about the reasons would be more transparent. Most mfg do not have to support the parts after 20y,. so it puts them in a pickle if there are nor parts because they cannot do the repair the way they want to and guarantee it.

I haven't gone to a dealer for my truck in 12 years for any service. They would screw the truck up if they did service it, mainly a gas truck dealership. In fact, the service people left to much oil in the engine when it was last service by them.

I have a very good local service garage who does most of my major service work that I can't do. Their service trucks and tow trucks are all Ram diesel trucks so the mechanics know how to work on a Ram/Cummins truck.

I would search around your area for a reliable service garage to work on your truck in my humble opinion.

I called my local dealership asking for some service. They said they would only work on 2010 or newer models. It appears my truck has a shelf life!

Dealerships should only be used for warranty repairs, everything is overpriced and underserviced. You'll get much better pricing and maintenance at an independent shop.

My local shop doesn't like newer vehicles. Primarily because problems tent to be electronic and you need an expensive scan tool to troubleshoot.

I've basically done all work myself to date on my truck. I have an airbag recall and want a front end alignment after doing a lot of front end work and new tires. They will do that. I inquired about replacing the turbo and that's when I learned about the "shelf life". If I do the turbo, I'll do it myself. I was more after a cost.
