My weatherstrips are rusting and I bought new ones from the dealer (ouch!). According to the shop manual, you have to remove the mirror and, of course, the inner door panel to replace the weatherstrip. Has anyone tried to do this without removing the mirror? It looks to me like you might be able to pull the front end of the old weatherstrip out and slip the new one in without any disassembly. Is this wishful thinking on my part?

I have a 1998 Ram and I just got a set of inner and outer belt weather strips from J. C. Whitney for 49. 95 and they look and fit great. If the inner ones are still good you can replace the outers without removing the mirrors by lifting up the back of the molding and pulling it back then slide the new one under the mirror and push down the back. another thing I tried to try and stop the rust is to spread a little black silicone on the ends of the molding to seal the metel renforcment.
