Does anyone else have errors in temperature showing on the overhead intermittently. Sometimes when I start up, it seems just to 'pick a temp', and may stay there all day or correct itself. Any ideas. Sensor? Computer?

Thanks

It is a software issue, the programming only allows

A certain rate of change when vehicle speed has met

A required criteria

If the sensor does not have a connection the overhead will show oc if the circuit has a short it will show sc

Poor connections can cause erroneous data. . Not as common, but sure is the easiest to check/fix.

I've seen my truck's overhead get stuck on a very cold temperature and not get any warmer as the day starts to warm up until you restart the engine. That has only happened twice on very cold mornings.

Assuming this truck is the '06 in your signature the best thing I have found it to disconnect the power to the truck for 30 seconds. It will behave itself for a year or so before you have to do it again. Your dome lights as well as the temp display will start mis-behaving soon if you don't give it the ol' reboot.

You don't have to unhook the batteries either, just follow the smaller red wire from the left hand positive terminal down to the PDM on the fender, unhook the wire with a 10mm socket. I find that far easier than undoing both batteries.

Mike. :)

My 01 was do the same and also fluctuating continuously. I thought to myself, the outside sensor has never been cleaned. Attached to the rear of the grill there it was. Used alcohol on a rag to clean it and problems solved. Maybe that's all you need.
