Well I thought I could smell antifreeze in the oil. The oil analiys came back clean. Pressurized the cooling system no drop i pressure. Filled coolint back up and road tested. Cooling system worked normal but only drove 10 miles But was about 90 derees out.
Going to work one day and she overheated. The resivior was full. The radiator was very low. I have had a new therostat installed back in 1997. I think I'll take it in to get the radiator flushed and new coolent put in. Get new upper and lower hase installed.
Does any one have the thermostat that does not cycle? Mine does. I heard Cummins has a thermostat that holds water temp without going up and down. Does any one have one and how has it performed? I think this is the part number for it,393472.
Any other tips or ideas would be helpfull.
Thanks Jeff H

Hey Jeff:

It sounds like your thermostat's not holding pressure, if your old one is three or four years old more than likely it's bad. I install a new thermostat each time I change the coolent, it only cost four or five buck's extra.

100% agree with abledog,a bad cap lets air in the system, thats why your'e finding a low radiator level. Leaking upper hose, heater hoses or heater core will also cause the symtoms you describe.
