Phoenix, AZ. is where I live & the desert climate is hard on tires. It's especially hard if you don't drive the truck very much. They dry out quicker & sidewall cracks develop sooner.
The salesman at Discount Tire showed me a list of warranties for all the manufacturers of tires that they sell. There is a list for Ozone. All of the manufacturers have 3 or 4 year warranties except for Michelin & BF Goodrich (which, is involved with Michelin) that have a 6 year warranty. For those of you that live in a desert climate & don't drive your trucks, that much, this may be of consideration.
The tires that came, stock, on my '03, 3500 SRW were BFG Rugged Trail A/T's & I got 56,982 miles out of them. The right-front developed a bubble on the outside sidewall. On 6/30/07, I replaced them with a set of Bridgestone Dueler REVO's after reading on Tirerack.com that they had good reports. They balanced well, seemingly wore well until they started developing sidewall cracking from drying out. They were on the truck for 3 years & 2-1/2 months & 21,885 miles. The truck sits outside (won't fit in the garage!!!) & recently, I started covering them (not recently enough, it seems).
On 9/15/10, I went back to the selling dealer & they said that Bridgestone probably would do nothing as far as partial warranty coverage. They were supposed to call me back, yesterday but, didn't. They didn't call today, either. On wednesday, 9/15/10, I thought I'd do a little research into less expensive tires at Discount Tires. I like buying good quality tires but, when they just rot out, maybe there are good, less expensive tires that can rot out for less money. At any rate, the salesman at Discount asked why I was looking for the cheaper tires & I told him. He said that he could help me with warranty issues on the Bridgestone's & offered to sell me the BFG Rugged Trail A/T's for $535. 15 (set of four with certificates) plus there was a $60. 00 rebate that I was eligible for which, brought the price down to $475. 15. Boy, was I surprised!!! Discount Tire really stepped-up to the plate to win me over as a customer. BTW, Discount warrantied EACH Bridgestone for $100. 15.
