p0148 fuel delivery error after nozzle swap

just put a set of ddp 50 nozzles on my 2006 truck and now it is falling on its face at wide open throttle but pulls like a freight train other wise and throws a p0148 fuel delivery error code. i pulled it back apart and made sure all my injectors and cross over tubes popped into place right and i am still having issues, i am running a edge juice with attitude w/ hot unlock and it does it on all power levels including stock and had no previous issues before the swap so i have not done a pressure test but i would not think at all that it would be a lift pump but i have saw other possible problems including FCA, and pressure reliefe valve and rail pressure sensor. could taking the lines off and a little bit of air caused one of these to fail (straw that broke the camel's back) when the truck has 110k on it? there was a little bit of dirt/trash that i saw while swapping tips too.

is it surging at wot? if so you may just be draining the fuel rail. mine does this all the time but i have larger injectors.

If it only does at WOT throttle it is likely rail pressure is dropping out of range. LP and CDP-3, all suspect until you track down the problem.

yeah thats what i was guessing is rail pressure is dropping but hoping i could have a better idea of exactly what i causing it

When it comes rail pressure dropping its not always easy to find the problem. Supply pressure at the CP-3 inlet is the first place to monitor for issues, and, comparing demanded to actual to verify the pressure is not correct. You will need a scanner to do that.



The problem is it may show good pressure at the CP-3 and still loose rail pressure because either the CP-3 is not up to the task or the combination of the FCA\COV\Gear Pump is not capable of keeping up with demand.



Start with supply pressure first and keep it up in the 15-20 psi range all the time and see what happens. Probably will entail and aftermarket pump to manage that.

injectors are too big and the cp3 can not keep up. there is probably nothing wrong its just a trade off. time to get a cp3 upgrade of some kind if you want to solve the issue. its that simple.

it's not that the injectors are to big it has started a new problem during the swap because i can turn the programer on stock with these 50's and it will do it, but with out the injectors and the edge on Hot Unlock (level 6) it never did it and that was WAY!!! more fuel then the 50's on a lower setting.

You would think that would be true, but, its not a given. The duration and pressure might have been marginal stock and now with the larger tips it has tipped the balance.



If you are running a stock LP and stock filtration all bets are off on the viability of the CP-3 to deliver the needed fuel for even a 50 HP increase on the tips. A 50 HP tip is NOT the same thing as a 50 HP software increase.



You will need to track pressures both high a low sides to see what is up.

the holes in the tips are bigger, they let more fuel through no matter what setting you have a programer on or had run with stock tips. it simple physics. no matter what pressure you run with stock tips there is only so much volume you can push through the holes. when you increase the hole size you dump more volume and drain the rail. like i said its a trade off, every time you updrade something you find the next limiting item. in your case its you cp3.

i let diesel equipment co. diagnosis it and come to find ot they just had to retorque the tubes. didn't seem to be leaking or getting into oil but thy retorqued them and now itruns great! thoughti would share for future reference.

Thanks for the update... from my past research CP3 upgrades arent necessary until you get to 90 HP or above on the injectors, although, an upgrade to the low pressure feed is highly recommended (AD/FASS... etc)



I have 60's and no issues with low RP
