I would be too nervous to attempt something like that.

You referring to painting the truck? Its not hard, these newer vehicles are easy to do. The windshield wipers have 4 bolts holding in the complete motor & arms unit. The doors have 2 plugs & 4 bolts, only 8 bolts holding the bed on, easy as pie. :-laf

Nice color. Now all you gotta do is finish it and you can look at it every day:-laf:cool:

Thanks. Yeah, finish it..... thats the part that sucks.

If you would, please ballpark your man hours and paint $$. I may be interested in this myself come late spring.

I haven't kept track of man hours, but its alot if you do it the way I am. I mean I took everything apart & fixed alot of hail dents in the roof, doors, bed. If you have a perfect body & a DA sander..... probably about a weeks worth of 8 hour days. I'm only working 3-5 hours a evening on it.

Now, as far as money.

About $2000 in paint, primer, epoxy primer, Picklex, sand paper, 3 gallons of Zero rust frame coating & masking supplies.

I still say plug that antenna hole, lol. It is much easier to wash and wax with it gone. Look ma no antenna.

:-laf Just trying to help you out, it's not like you don't have it all apart. You're going to have a bright, shiny truck why not make it different. Whats another hour or less? At least I have not suggested shaving your door handles, right?

Does your antenna still pick up stations tucked away like that?

SHobbs. That truck looks really good with your customizing. Cummins724 your truck is going to really sharp... ... Good Job!!! both of you.

Cummins724,

There are a couple of stations that I had trouble with before the change all the others stayed the same. I had originally planned on placing the antenna in the bed under the bed rail where it would be out of the way. I decided to go with Sirius instead and have been happy with it so far. Now my antenna is still under the hood running along the fender behind the battery and is still getting good reception if I need it.

Bob,

I am not done yet, the black pieces on both bumpers will get Line X Xtra sprayed on them, new mudflaps front and rear and stainless steel wheel simulators. I would like to get some kind of smoked headlamp housings if I can find them. I need to get some current pics of the truck I have since swapped the cab lights for smoked ones and the bed has been sprayed with Line X xtra wrapped all around the top of the bed. Oh and a hooded headache rack is on the way too.

What is Line-x xtra? Is that the real fine looking line-x? Or is that the rougher dryer look?

The xtra is a new thing they have come up with. When I had my bed sprayed it cost me $180 more for the xtra. It is guaranteed in writing to not fade, chip or peel if it does they will fix it for free. I had my aluminum running boards sprayed with it as well.

LINE-X Xtra is the first product offering resulting from a partnership between LINE-X and DuPont Performance Coatings. This spray-on high performance bedliner is a “new benchmark” in exclusive composite coatings, as it combines the world renown strengths of DuPont™ Urethane Technology and DuPont™ KEVLAR®. LINE-X Xtra features include improved appearance, improved resistance to ultraviolet light (resists fading!!), more chemical resistant, and more stain resistant. In addition, LINE-X Xtra is specially formulated with DuPont™ KEVLAR® micro pulp fiber for extreme durability. Xtra is applied like a topcoat but actually migrates into the bedliner and achieves molecular mechanical bonding. Other bedliner brands may use a bedliner topcoat that only sits on top of the bedliner and does not achieve mechanical bonding. Many of those types of topcoats can be worn down with moderate use.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

I found some surface rust on my rh front door. It was hiding, but I found it while sanding. I sandblasted the lower door & peeled the door skin back, then sandblasted inside also. Then I reattached the door skin with door skin adhesive & cleaned/coated the metal with Picklex. I'm gonna finish sanding this door tomorrow & hopefully start on sanding the rear door so that the paint can fly. :-laf

Lookin real good. Do you do this on the side(hobby) or professionally (your job)? Truck is looking awesome.

Thanks. I went to school, then did some side jobs. I just do my own stuff now & some friends, unless ofcourse someone wants to pay. ;)
