smoke & stacks

How long are recalls good for?

It's a Escalade cluster silver face. I bought it through JP Customs.

You see there, he's disguised it as a Cadilac from the drivers seat to lead him to believe he's driving something nice.

Speaking of slowing up, building boost, smoking them out and all that... . can your truck smoke the tires while all locked up in OD at 55MPH when you hit 70PSI of boost? (you dont have to be honest to us, nor would i expect you to, but you're forced to be with yourself during that split second when you just realized it wont) :D

Well, keep bolting on goodies, and when it can, come see me... You just might be able to keep up with me.

Hey Mackypoo,

Give us a real estimate of how much cash you got dropped into your truck and how little is really done to it.

Hold off on the smart remarks if you can. Just give us a real number.

How many times has your transmission been pulled? Three? Four times?

Had injectors replaced? :-laf

No other issues? :-laf

No reply, I wonder why... (LOL) :-laf You know, when I bought my truck I bought it for the same reason a lot of poeple on here have "LONG TERM RELIBALITY"... I don't care how fast it can go, I just don't want to have to worry about being left somewhere. You can smoke all us Cummins guy's out, but don't expect me to stop after you screw your truck up showing off.

We'll see how long we're in the rear view... . :-laf

Can't see why you would care as your just a wanna be riding coat tales of others accomplishments.

I have had the injectors replaced, one was bad,but GM had a replace all 8 campaign so it worked for me. Zero cost

Rear axle seals. Zero cost

Other issues other than a battery leaking after 5 years that's about it.

Transmission

I have cooked two Suncoast proto-types,if you recall I was one of the first to get involved with the Allison upgrades. One finished ATS,clutch lamination (their problem)and am on my second.

I could spin your head at what I have spent in "labor" but that doesn't count.

So a ATS full with electronics $5000 grand,TTS tuning $1200,custom dual lift pumps $250 dollars,N20 $350

I could have stayed with Suncoast and been in less than that but I was hard headed and we had a falling out.

With the set-up I will blow the doors in of most vehicles on the road including most Cummins, definitely yours. A spray of N2O gets me in the twelves!

So for less than $7000 having a 12 second 7000 LB vehicle isn't to shabby,in my opinion. I paid invoice for my LT truck in 01 ,just under 37K with every available option.

$7000 is not too shabby. I'm over $12k with my setup and had it been an auto you could add another $2K. Although you left off the triple Autometer Ultra Lite guages, AFE intake and Edge from your figure. Also does the dual lift pump setup include the Cat F/W seperator?

I'd be curious about your EGT's and ability to sustain high power levels for long amounts of time though too. Do you tow much with it? that was the whole reason for the extra expense for the Twins on this truck, it was the higher amount of usable power they offer over single's. My last 01 had 649/1027 but I could only hold it for about 10-15 seconds, but heh it cost half as much as twins.

What would a twin turbo setup cost for a Durmax anyone have any luck with those?

Up until the Mega cab came out the D/A would have been my next truck. I see yours is an extended cab though, I'd have to have the Crew.

If you're ever in the area, I'd race ya. Maybe we'll see ya at Indy this year? :D I'll be the 12 second Dodge truck pulling the 10K tow hauler. (of course the lot will be full of those) :--)

The Cat filter, not running a water separator,2 um that I'm running is unnecessary as is the AFE intake, you gain nothing. Gauges and exhaust, well I guess I'm a little over 7k then but still it isn't bad.

EGT's on kill are off the clock that is a gimme. How long, long enough for a pass or two but I'd let it cool off from there. :D

There have been a few melted turbos without a doubt.

There are a few running twins on the LLY and LB7 and EGT's have been in check but I haven't seen anyone putting any big numbers down. I think it boils down to the availability of the fuel delivery limitations on the Duramax.

Specifically the CP3,but I could be wrong. No one is talking much as the twins are far and few between. Someone posted a price ,I'll see if I can did it up but the Cummins has to be cheaper to big turbo and twin it just by sheer easiness to modify and availability.

I see that there has been some modifications to the CP3 common rail on the Cummins I wonder how close they are in comparison as even although they are both Bosch there are I'm sure differences.

$7000

I think you spent more than that just on transmission fluid :-laf

BTW all I've done to my little six is a box. She lays down over 425 at the rear with the TST on 5/5.

Not bad for $800

I do tend to not thrash the drivetrain most of the time cause I know I could get into the $5000+ world real easy.

What I love about this truck is the lack of driveability quirks. It just takes a beaten when asked of it ... no codes, no limps.

And hey MACKIN... . my truck is very used... it's been mudded up from hauling trailer loads of split wood all winter. 650lbs of ballast for the plow stays in the bed... . ran a little Cavalier tonight from ligh to light and put him to shame. No biggy but with the extra weight in the bed she just doesn't get up the same.

My Dodge ain't no "Princess" as your truck is sometimes referred to.

Gettin pretty close to time to ebay that POS isn't it? Haven't you had enough or are you one of those hard core "Love it when it slaps me" types? :-laf

Oh yes they do run! But than a BIC lighter only gets so many lights :-laf

Oh let me just add though that, that same buddy just broke a pitman arm the other night trying to pull some girl out of a five foot ditch. I called him and told him he should have called, I would have pulled the truck out and then hauled him all in the same night :-laf :-laf

Chevys ride nice but the IFS suspension is a joke with a lift or some power under the hood

AKAMAC - every had a prob with your suspension pulling or dragging?

Yo Hoot

I wont challenge your statements, as there is no point,as I know where I am ,something you should have thought about in your tenure so to speak,as to where you were tossed like a red headed step child!

Enjoy your coat tail ride, words can bite you in the *** later :)
