Who wants to help me spend my money? I need to order a new turbo.

Is this a good choice for me @ $600?

I have new injectors RV275's

New VP44

Edge Easy box

I don't tow

Of course I would like better spool up and keep egt down.

Thanks,

Tom

It was a good turbo choice back in the day (10 years ago) but with just RV 275s and EZ box it would be a decent choice if you don't plan any further power mods. Efficiency-wise it's pretty good, but it can't that a lot of beating. It's basically a stock turbo with the HX40 compressor wheel. This was a fairly popular turbo back then and it was best paired with a wastegated 14cm housing. Others went the cheaper route using the 16cm nonwastedgated housing (which is what I did when I had a PDR35). The 16 housing definitely made it slower spooling but it didn't reduce EGTs enough compared to the 12cm to justify it.

If you thing you're going to add more upgrades you'd be better off stepping up a bit more and go with the PDR S300 for ~$1000, but if I was spending in that range I'd also take a look at the BD Super B Single BD Super B Single Turbo 94-02 5. 9L Dodge Cummins 1045220 Both of these turbos will be similar to stock spooling but definitely flow more air than the PDR35, and can take a lot more abuse.

As Vaughn said you dont hear much about these anymore. However they are pretty solid for what they are. I have had one on my truck for well over 100k. I am running 275's, smarty and a juice. If I turn everything up it is not enough turbo. I do not drive regularly with it turned up all the way so it suits my needs just fine. I have a DTT auto so I chose to use the 12cm housing as I cant stand lag (it was replacing an hy35 9cm). I live at about 6200' elev and frequent the mountains and dont have egt problems with the 12cm and how I drive. I think it is a great value if it suits your needs as it does mine. Is it the best that can be had out there I would say definitely not but you could also spend close to 2 or up to 3 times the amount.

I have installed tons of the PDR 35/14's The 275 ez pkg is agreat towing combination with this turbo. None of the at least 50 or so i have done have failed. They work great at the 300-325hp range.

Truck is DOA at Rocky Mountian Cummins

OK! Thanks for the reply's. I ordered it a couple days ago.

Now moving on to other problems at hand. Truck is at Rocky Mountain Cummins for almost zero oil pressure. RMC has been very helpfull.

RMC called me three days ago and said the vacuum pump was DOA. I ordered a new one and it should arrive today or Monday.

RMC tells me the vac pump probably sent broken guts into the oil system. They will be dropping the oil pan and checking the oil pickup tube etc. and maybe r&r the oil pump and check for the rear oil pump seal. #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

I'll keep you posted.

I tow with a PDR35-12W. Have had it for 5 or 6 years. Spools similar to the old HY-35 and cools better.
